Be afraid, little one, be very afraid,
Fear the dark, as it has always been said.

The night is mine, and yours is the day.
Do remember that and stay out of my way;
I am no hunter, and you are not my prey,
Yet, I could harm you if into my path you stray.

You call me a monster and run away from me,
Unaware as to how dark you humans could be;
And while you willing battle the monsters you see,
Don't you care about the demons you set free?

With timid minds and hearts full of fright,
Yet, drown yourselves in life's delight;
Oh you, who are so fearful of the night,
You know not the horrors of the light.

If only you learnt which darkness you should fear,
Whose voices to ignore, which whispers to hear;
That twisted malice hides behind faces sincere,
You would know things are not as they appear.

So, be afraid, little one, be very afraid,
The dark's to be feared, it is truly said.
