Draven's POV

:::

I managed to keep my mouth shut when the imbecile came storming at Idalia and I. I could see how I scared her when I fought her two guards and I didn't want to scare her anymore today, or ever. When tears start to leave streaks through the dirt that's smudged all over her face though, I can't help myself.

I watch as she follows my orders like a good little girl, laughing as the tall one swings her onto his shoulders. The idiot keeps talking to my back, his anger unrelenting.

Once I decide she's far enough into the house I whip my Marlin out and shoot the idiot.

His scream of pain is the only time I've ever enjoyed hearing his voice. I storm up to him, digging my finger into the bullet hole.

"That is the second time that you've spoken to her like that in the past 24 hours alone. If I catch you even near her again the next bullet is going through your head do you understand me?" I snarl in his face.

The cunt has the audacity to laugh, so I press harder and twist.

"You can't keep me away from her, I'm her goddamn guard," he gasps.

I throw a fist into his face hearing a satisfying crunch, "looks like she's got new guards. Leave her alone or I kill you, your choice."

I give him one last punch and drop his limp body to the ground. His groan echos through the garden leaving a smirk on my face the entire way to my little girl's room.

The tall one stops me at the bottom of the staircase that leads up to her room.

"You can't go in."

"And why the hell not?" I glare.

"She hasn't been this upset in years, you being there isn't going to help things. When she gets like this it's best to let Gunner or Maxen handle her but seeing as Maxen is the reason she's upset Gunner is trying to keep her from panicking. I don't think she's fought with Maxen in her entire life, and I know he's never called her any names before this."

What he's saying only makes me head for the stairs faster. He goes to grab my arm but I slam him against the wall pulling his own arm behind him, "try that again and I break your arm. I'm going to see her."

I shove him against the wall and take off up the stairs. There's only one set of french doors in the entire corridor and they're left slightly open. I don't know what I expected coming up here, maybe for the room to be filled with pink and ruffles like the dress she wore last night. Instead, her room is all white and gold with tile floors and a canopy over her bed. A big crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling and there was a formal sitting area and a breakfast nook out on a balcony. The room was fit for a queen, their little queen.

"Range, c'mon she thinks you're mad at her- Oh, Mr. Kingston. I thought you were my partner Ranger."

"Obviously," I say unamused, "where is she is she okay?"

The short one rolls back on his heels, he's nervous. "She's been through a lot. She's worried we're all mad at her even though Maxen's the one that messed up. I can't tell you much more than that though."

"Can't or won't?" I say getting in his face.

He stares me in the eye, "won't."

"I swear to god if you don't tell me everything you know about how she is right now I'll put a bullet in you."

He doesn't flinch, "go ahead. I'm not telling why she's so upset, I won't break her trust like that. Keep in mind though you shoot me, all you're managing to do is upset her more."
