Who was that? Why'd they congratulate me? Why did I feel so... vulnerable? I just need to clear my mind. Think smart but quickly. I know! I'll go ask Lyze who that was! He's bound to know something or he could just research the assassins who are supposed to be fighting today!
"Lyze...Lyze...Lyyyyzzze...LYZE!"
Maru approached Lyze, who was sitting in the stands, as the dark figure made it out on to the field.
"You didn't have to shout... The entire crowd can hear you."
Lyze was the most Intellectual of Maru's friends. He had slick and spiky blue hair and always wore a long coat with sleeves. He's also the closest to Maru. He told him so much and always relied on him.
"Please tell me you know who that is!"
"Eh... Nope. I've never seen or heard of an unidentified dark cloak."
Maru looked at Lyze figuring he had to be joking.
"Fine..."
Lyze takes out a small device that unfolded into a small laptop.
"Their name is Aleister. Actually, there really isn't any info on them. No gender, no family, not even an age. I'd advise you to not engage in any type of physical contact with Aleister."
Aleister had suddenly turned around, smiling in the direction of Maru, looking him directly in the eye.
Maru was puzzled and began to question something in his mind. "Why? Why this feeling? Is this a spell? A curse? Am I embarrassed? Do they like me? Who are you?"
The announcer chimed in. "Aaaaannnd nooooww, we'll be showing you the analysis of the contestants after today!"
A huge screen lowered from the center of the arena.
"Lyze! I'm in second! I'm right behind-" Maru paused as if something worried him "I'm right behind Aleister..."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No, just suprising."
It was past to sunset and Maru and Lyze began to make their way home.
"Alright, see ya!"
"Pardons to you too sir!"
Lyze smiles softly and sighs.
Maru began to think about what had happened earlier. "I don't get it... Why do I all of a sudden have these... Feelings? I just need to clear my mind."
Maru looked at his surroundings, beginning to realize how late it was. Looking up at the night sky, streaming with stars that were colors of a neon rainbow, and the dark blue clouds that hid some of the stars, as if they were curtains. The moon peeked above the curtain like clouds and let out a soft yellow glow.
"Maru look out!" An unknown voice called from behind Maru.
"I know that voice..."
A purple figure with an aura that dragged along the ground appeared at least three feet from Maru. Their face was unexplainable, but it struck a fear so deep into Maru. He stared him in the place where the eyes should've been located, with a sharp feeling in his heart, accepting the fact that this could be the end for him.
"It's hopeless..."
The ominous voice that had called Maru's name rushed in for an attack.
"You dare protect this one? Have you no shame Aleister? This pathetic creature deserves to die." The unknown figure had a stern, deep voice.
"I chose him! I'm choosing him for the bond! You can't stop me!"
"Hahaha! You choose this pathetic, weak boy as a holder of a destiny only a god could fufill? Have you lost your everlasting mind. He hasn't even fought back! He's only trembled upon the site of me as a stray cat would to vicious dog!"
At this point, tears were starting to run down Maru's face. He was frozen with fear as he stared even deeper into the figure, still unable to find the structure of a face.
"Leave me be father! You have no right to harm the one I've chosen for the bond! Go, leave this place this instant! We had a deal!"
"I doubt you and this "boy" will even be able to change anything equal to the importance of a grain of sand in my masterpiece!"
The dark, purple figure slowly faded away into the darkness of the forest while cackling.
"A-Are you okay Maru?"
Maru rushed in to hug Aleister.
Maru was uncontrollably crying at this point. "Thank you! I t-t-thought *sniffle* that my career was over!"
Aleister lets out a forced smile while sighing mentally, but he begins held Maru tighter since he couldn't keep his balance. Maru had a sudden feeling and began to panic. He began to question what was happening.
"My heart! Is this the effect of the "bond" Aleister was talking about?! It's beating so fast! Am I dying?! Someone! Anyone! Help!"
"Woah, Maru! Calm down! You're gonna be fine! I'm not here to hurt you! Are you okay?"
Maru's vision began to fade as Aleister pulled off off his cloak, revealing his appearance.End Ch.2
