"Unexpectancy" - Maru's Story

Ch.9 - "Hidden Love"

    "Aleister! Please this isn't you! Something's wrong!"
   Maru tried to get through to Aleister, but it wasn't working. They some how had moved outside, but Aleister was still throwing slice after slice. Maru started to get tired due to the constant attacks. The only thing that scared Maru more than this is the thought of his second ability. Maru was grew even more tired, but Aleister wouldn't let up.
    "Fine then! If it's a fight you want, then it's a fight you'll get!" Maru tried to straighten up into a fighting pose. "Zora!"
   She only nodded at him and went back inside as quick as she could. She came back out and tossed Maru his scythe. The scythe glowed while is was flying mid air. Maru caught it and turned back towards Aleister. Maru's eyes began to be enveloped in his aura, followed by his scythe.
    "So the coward thinks he can fight back huh?! Hahaha!!!" Aleister cakcled so terrifyingly that it made Maru weak.
   Up until now, Maru never compared Aleister's physical attributes to his, but in this state it didn't matter, he was definitely above Maru in strength and speed.
    "Aleister please, we don't have to do this! Something's wrong with you and I know it!"
   Aleister got annoyed by Maru's constant begging.
    "Shut up or I swear, I'll take this knife and cut out your tounge! Now come, fight me! Or are you too scared?"
   Maru shivered again. How could someone that tried to protect him become so heartless? Just then, Aleister went back to attacking.

   Maru managed to catch his first attack and deflect it, he then tried to shoot his gum aura at him, but it bounced off just like with the Daemon. Aleister suddenly disappeared, but this time he couldn't see his aura. Maru decided it'd be best if he kept moving.
    "Wrong move kiddo."
   Aleister had appeared behind Maru. He grabbed him by the hood, holding the knife to his kneck. Maru looked up at him. He looked like a completely different person.
    "Haha! There's now way you can beat me! I'm better than you in every way!"
   Zora didn't want to sit back and watch anymore while Lyze tried his best to keep a steady emotion. Maru closed his eyes, bracing himself, but he had just sliced Maru on the left side of his face. Maru felt extreme pain afterwards. Maru fell to his knees after Aleister let him go. He barely wanted to stand up afterwards. Maru believed it was his second ability, the ability to inflict great amounts of pain.  Maru struggled to keep balance from the pain. He took a side glance at Aleister. His body was being swallowed by darkness.
    "Aleister...please! Try to remember your true self!"
   Maru talking again made Aleister even more irritated.
    "Didn't I just say shut up? Now you've pissed me off."
   Maru looked in the one eye that wasn't covered by his hair. He only saw sheer hatred. Maru was getting even more frightened. He began to move slower, like he was slowly freezing up. His aura began to fade from his body. "No!!" He thought to himself. Aleister then launched at Maru, the knife aimed straight at his eye.
   "Aleister..."
   "That's enough!"
  Someone started to appear from the trees.
   "Ahh...my beautiful creation!"
  It was Aleister's father. He did something to him. All of this was his fault. Maru wanted to cry, but held in his tears as much as he could. Aleister was frozen in place, just standing, looking down at his feet.
   "My God boy! You've nearly gone and nearly gotten yourself killed!" Aleister's dad boasted.
   "You! You're the reason he's acting this way!"
   "Precisely! He's my son? What'd you expect? For him not to become like me?!"
   Zora cut in "Look, all of this is messed up alright. Maru! Deep in your heart, I know you have an idea! Only you can change him back! That's why he picked you! He bonded with you! Do what you feel is right!"
   "You don't mean-" Maru paused, he knew exactly what she meant.
   "Aleister...you still like me right?" He started stumbling towards Aleister. "I can't say that I'm ready to like you back, but I know the feeling of love is even stronger than hatred. You'd never hurt me. From the short time I've known you, you've only protected me."
   "Enough. My son...my creation! Finish him!"
  Aleister instantly launched at Maru, but Maru wouldn't move. He couldn't hold back his tears anymore. Maru stood still. He just wanted to hug Aleister, so that's what he attempted to do.

   Aleister charged at Maru with unfathomable furor. Maru stood up arms wide open, head down.
    "You're just making this easier for me!" Aleister spun his knife in his hand.
    "Aleister, I-I...I do love you...I was afraid, afraid of my past. I don't wanna be scared anymore. I want to face my fears. I wanna be like you! I know you're scared. It's because of your dad. You could've stopped him alone, but you wanted someone to stand by your side, to give you confidence. You were scared to do it alone. Please, I don't understand how you're feeling, but at least I'm making an effort to!"
   Aleister stopped. Maru tried to walk, but couldn't. Tears were streaming down his face. Aleister slowly walked towards him.
    "What are you doing? I said finish him!"
   Aleister shot a quick look at his dad. He wanted him to leave him alone.
    "You absolute idiot...why do you make stupid decisions that you think 'ill always turn out to be fine in the end?" Aleister chuckled.
   Maru looked up. Aleister had lifted his head, showing his eye that wasn't covered by his hair. His eye was still full of sheer hatred, but something was wrong. He looked he didn't want to attack Maru.
    "Well not this time."
