"Come on Thalia! We're going to miss the train!" Hermione screamed from downstairs
"Don't get your wand in a knot I'm coming!" I screamed back before sliding down the hand rail with my trunk in my hand and jumping off as I reached the end landing gracefully in front of Hermione and bowing proudly
Hermione rolled her eyes at me. "Your modesty is incredible" she said sarcastically
"And so is your hair but I never complain" I replied, wincing as she punched me in the arm and tried her best to flatten down her hair
I handed my trunk over to Mad Eye who was handling the luggage and tried to ignore my grandmother's screams of 'MUDBLOODS! SCUM! CREATURES OF DIRT!'.
"Harry, you're to come with me and Tonks," shouted Mrs Weasley. "Leave your trunk and your owl, Alastor's going to deal with the luggage... oh, for heaven's sake, Sirius, Dumbledore said no!"
I smiled as my father crawled up to Harry and I in his animagus form and I scratched him behind the ear like I knew he liked.
I followed Harry out the door ad accompanied Hermione, Ron and Mr Weasley on our walk to Kings Cross station. It took us twenty minutes filled with me cracking jokes, Hermione trailing on about Prefects work and Ron and Hermione bickering like mad.
We arrived on the platform right before Fred, George, Ginny, and Uncle Remus and we stepped on to the train after our goodbyes. Dad started chasing the train, making all the kids looking out laugh before we reached a bend and I waved my final fleeting goodbye at my father.
"He shouldn't have come with us" said Hermione as I rolled my eyes at her being such a worrywart.
"Oh, lighten up," said Ron, "he hasn't seen daylight for months, poor bloke"
"Ron is right" I agreed "Dad deserves a little sunshine"
"Well," said Fred, clapping his hands together, "can't stand around chatting all day, we've got business to discuss with Lee. See you later," and he and George disappeared down the corridor to the right.
Harry and I accompanied Ginny as we tried to find a compartment while Hermione and Ron went down to the prefect carriage on the other side of the train. At the end of the train we saw one of my friends Neville. I smiled at him and gave him a hug as he maintained a one-handed grip on his struggling toad, Trevor.
"Hey there, Thal, haven't seen you in a while" he panted. "Hi, Harry. Hi, Ginny... everywhere's full... I can't find a seat..."
"What are you talking about?" said Ginny, who had squeezed past Neville to peer into the compartment behind him. "There's room in this one, there's only Loony Lovegood in here-"
"Don't call her that Ginny" I scolded her as she just rolled her eyes. Neville mumbled something about not wanting to disturb anyone.
"Don't be silly," said Ginny, laughing, "she's all right"
I slid the compartment door open and smiled at Luna who was sitting reading The Quibbler
"Hello Luna" I smiled at her "can my friends and I take these seats?"
She looked up at me and immediately smiled, knowing I was one of the people who had never made fun of her and nodded her head vigorously.
I sat across from her next to the window as Harry sat next to me, Ginny on the other side of Harry and Neville sitting next to Luna.
"Had a good summer, Luna?" Ginny asked.
"Yes," said Luna dreamily, without taking her eyes off Harry. "Yes, it was quit enjoyable, you know. You're Harry Potter." she added
"I know I am" said Harry
I snorted at his response and tuned out from there conversation as my mind drifted back to last night when I received letters from Cedric, Lily and James, and Mum wishing me luck for my next year and telling me to write to them whenever I needed to. Mum's letters mainly consisted of multiple apologies and excuses as to why she wouldn't see me off of the platform saying things like 'everyone will think I've come back as a ghost' and 'I don't want all the attention'. Personally, I'm just glad that any of them actually bothered to write to me.
Time flicked by and Hermione and Ron came back from the Prefect carriage talking about their archenemy Draco Malfoy and whatnot. At first impression, Draco was quite nice to me until he realised I was a Weasley and said he 'couldn't be seen with a blood traitor' but other than that, Draco hardly ever acknowledged me at school which I'm happy about because that would only bring more attention my way especially after word spread that I was the daughter of notorious mass murderer Sirius Black.
Before I knew it, the train was coming to a halt and I saw the large castle with spires and towers that was Hogwarts. My home.
