"You're sure this will make him open the door?" Sam questioned as I tinkered with the dish on the roof.

"It should send a high frequency to their ear pieces once I'm done, then Steve, Nat, and Hill can get into the control room from there." I said, my hands glowing with a golden hue as I manipulated the signals to the dish.

He just hummed. "So you and Cap are good now?"

I just frowned as I thought of our moment on the bridge. "I mean, yes. But I think he doesn't think he's getting out of this alive."

"What do you mean?" Sam asked, a little edge to his voice as I stood. "Like he was willing to die?"

"No he was saying all these beautiful and nice things to me before we left and it just sounded like a farewell." I felt tears well up in my eyes when I remembered the look in Steve's eyes. "Sam, I think I'm in love with Steve."

"You just now realized that, Stirling?" He laughed and shook his head. "You done having your little drama show and ready save the world?" I just laughed at his words and we both jogged down to the control room where Steve was ready to make his hero speech.

"Have you been crying, Mae?" Steve asked me as Maria started to set up the intercom. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it slightly, those puppy dogs eyes making my knees weak.

"You know me, Steve," I tried to shrug it off with a shaky laugh. "I'm just one big ball of emotion."

"We're gonna be online in 15 seconds, Captain." Hill said, typing rapidly on the control panel.

"Steve?" I lowered my voice and he looked at me while giving me a small smile.

"Yes, Maeve?"

"You know, I--uh-- really enjoy being with you. In battle. And in life, you know? Like--uh... I care about you? But I care more than just caring." I stammered quietly, feeling my face go red as I rung out my hands. "You know?" I looked up at him and he was smiling softly at me as he leaned down close to my face so that only I could hear him.

"I love you, too, Maeve." He smiled warmly at me.

"Five seconds, Cap." Hill warned.

"I guess our thing isn't really unspoken anymore." He said softly, then grinned at me.

I sighed heavily and squeezed his hand. "No more hot and cold, Rogers."

"You're on the air."

Steve leaned down the mic, his hand still locked with mine as he spoke. "Attention, all SHIELD agents. This is Steve Rogers. You've heard a lot about me over the last few days, some of you were even ordered to hunt me down."

I looked at Sam and he gave me the thumbs up and a wide grin.

"But I think it's time you know the truth. SHIELD is not what we thought it was, it's been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader. The STRIKE and Insight crew are HYDRA as well. I don't know how many more, but I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you. They almost have what they want: absolute control."

Time to make babies. Sam mouthed to me and I just smiled, leaning my head on Steve's shoulder.

"They shot Nick Fury and endangered someone who I love," Steve looked at me meaningfully as he spoke. "It won't end there."

I felt myself blush as I looked at Sam and he mouthed the same thing to me again.

"If you launch those Helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way, unless we stop them. I know I'm asking a lot, but the price of freedom is high, it always has been, and it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not."

Hill shut off the intercom and I gazed up proudly at him. "You really are phenomenal."

"Did you write that down first, or was it off the top of your head?" Sam teased, shoving Steve's shoulder. "And that Maeve bit really got my eyes watering." Sam placed a hand on his heart and fanned his eyes with his other hand.

"Come on, dorks, we have to get the helicarriers." I said, looking at Hill. "Are you okay being here?"

"You guys go, I got everything under control here."

With those words we started to run to the helicarriers. We saw a swarm of people as he approached. I started to use my powers to fly along side them since I was far shorter than both of the men and had tiny legs. This made the golden aura propel me forwards to keep close to Steve and Sam.

"I didn't know you could do that!" Steve said, his voice full of delight.

"Yeah, neither did I!" I grinned at the boys.

"Hey, Cap, how do we know the good guys from the bad guys?" Sam yelled, voiced my concerns.

"If they're shooting at you, they're bad." Steve said simply as gun shots went off. "Maeve, you know what to do?"

"Steve, I found those bad guys you were talking about." I replied as we all scattered. Sam and I to the sky and Steve on the ground.

"You guys okay?" He asked over the comm and I heard Sam scoff.

"We're not dead yet." I chuckled at Sam and made my way towards my helicarrier. I landed on a landing and ran up to the control panel in the middle of the rig. That's when I saw him,

"Shit," I hissed, hiding behind pillar, pressing my back to the cool metal. "I have eyes on the Winter Soldier."

"Mae, get out of there." I heard Steve's voice over the comm. "He might have the serum, you can't face him alone."

"Can't you stop time?" Sam yelled and I huffed.

"It doesn't work like that, I can freeze things inside a small room not the entire fucking planet!" I hissed under my breath, carefully peeking around the pillar. He was speaking Russian on a phone, didn't seem to know I was there.

"I know you're there." He spoke suddenly.

"Shit."
