TW: self-harm mention, hinting at suicidal thoughts

"I can't trust you alone right now."

Roman watched Logan wearily, resisting the urge to rub his eyes. He rested his arms on his legs, staring at the ground solemnly.
Logan sat across from him, concern evident on his face. He opened his mouth to speak but Roman beat him to it.
"I know what you're going to say," Roman ground out. "'Roman, it's okay to be sad, you have to tell people.' I'm not fucking sad, okay?" He laughed humourlessly. "I'm fine. I'm fucking fine."
A slightly shocked expression crossed Logan's face but was gone before Roman could place a name to it. "I'm just worried for you, Roman," Logan tried.
"Then stop being worried, isn't that Virgil's job?" Roman looked up through his hair to glare at Logan. "I'm okay, now can we stop and forget this ever happened?"
"You know I can't do that, Ro."
The redhead looked down again, huffing shakily. "Please?" He asked, significantly quieter. "I don't want to talk about it."
Logan's gaze drifted to Roman's wrists. He didn't look judgemental, merely making an observation. "I think we have to, Roman," he noted, nodding toward Roman's wrists.
Roman scowled and pulled his sleeves down.
"Leaving it to another time allowed it to get worse," Logan told him. His voice wasn't... soft, per say, however he did appear to be making an effort to be quieter, kinder. "I think we need to confront it before you do something... worse."
Roman stood abruptly, startling Logan. "It's fine," he snapped. "I'm perfectly alright. There's nothing wrong with me, let me leave!"
Logan didn't respond for a few seconds, before he quietly admitted, "I can't trust you alone right now."
Roman's eyes widened. He turned to stare at Logan and his gaze was met head-on. "What do you mean?" He tried to scowl but his expression wavered.
Logan's eyes softened. "I know you want me to believe that you're alright, Roman, but I can't pretend to think that when I know it's not true." He stepped closer to Roman and caught his arm, running his thumb across Roman's freckled skin gently. "It's okay to not be okay, Ro."
Roman's eyes watered and he reached up to rub his eyes. "I'm so tired," he breathed. "I hate feeling this way. Feeling so weak and pathetic and- I just want it to stop, Lo. Please."
Wordlessly, Logan opened his arms; a silent invitation. Roman stepped forward and Logan wrapped his arms around the shaking redhead, beginning to shift his weight from side to side.
"You're going to be alright, Roman," Logan murmured. "You're not okay now, and that's fine. Everything is okay."
Roman's sobs were muffled as he buried his face into Logan's shoulder, finally allowing himself to break. His legs buckled and the two went down to the ground, and he found himself in Logan's lap. His boyfriend murmured soft reassurances in his ear, and eventually Roman calmed. And after a few more minutes, he slowly, surely, began to believe he'd be okay.
