"The government didn't give me a choice."
TW: murder

The man slipped through darkness, trusting humanity's blindness to the Other was enough to get him to his location. He scaled a building with a leap and landed silently on it, crouching in the shadows.
We good? The voice drifted into his mind, and the man nodded to himself.
"Yeah," he responded, voice so low it sounded like a growl.
Come back then, the voice told him. Your mission is done. Welcome to the Other.
The man nodded, a wicked smile gracing his face. He jumped toward the edge of the building and then to the one beside it, then stood and broke into a sprint. He bounded across the buildings, suppressing an exhilarated shout. He landed on a building that stood out ever so slightly, but only to the eye of the Other. There was a faint glow around it, distinguishing it from the non-glowing buildings around it.
The man - or creature - dropped from the rooftop and landed by the door. "Let me in," he murmured.
The door cracked open and he stepped inside."Lolo? Everything okay?"
Logan peeled his eyes open and groaned. He lifted his head to look at Patton.
"Yes, Patton. I am feeling satisfactory. Why do you ask?"
Patton frowned. "You fell asleep. You never fall asleep in class!"
Alarm shot through the man and he jerked upright. Falling asleep in college was never acceptable.
"My apologies," he amended swiftly. The professor, Dr. Picani, was walking over. Undoubtedly to chastise Logan for falling asleep.
"Patton's right," Dr. Picani noted. "You're not often one for sleeping during classes. Is everything alright?"
Logan nodded stiffly. "I can assure you, I'm doing well." He gathered his things together rapidly, stifling a yawn. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go to my next class."
"If you're not feeling well you should go back to your dorm," Dr. Picani interrupted. "I can send an email to your other two professors for today."
Logan shook his head. "Thank you for the offer, Doctor Picani, but I'm certain I'm feeling adequate to continue the day. An email to my professors will not be necessary." He stood, slung his back over his back and left the room, ignoring Dr. Picani's and Patton's attempts to call him back.
Thank God he had psychology next. Patton didn't do it."Logan?"
The shaky voice snapped Logan out of his rage. He whipped around to face Roman, and bared his fangs. Roman yelped and stepped back, holding up shaking hands.
"Lo-Logan, it's- it's me!" Roman pleaded. "What- what are you doing?"
Logan shook his head, nose scrunching up. "What I have to do."
"You don't have to do this!" Roman gasped out. His knees failed and he went to the ground, still holding up his hands. "Please, Logan, you- you know me-!"
"The government didn't give me a choice," Logan growled. "I'm an Other. I cannot be normal." His eyes slitted and he stalked toward Roman, baring his fangs again. "Others are ostracized, belittled, dehumanised. The Other will thrive, and then they'll be sorry."
Roman shook his head slowly. "Killing me won't change anything," he tried. "The government doesn't- doesn't care about a poor Spanish guy like me. I don't- I'm not a billionaire, I barely got into the country as it is."
Logan's eyes darkened further. Roman flinched, beginning to mumble prayers in Spanish. He seemed almost resigned to his fate, as if he had expected to die today.
Logan flicked his claws out and Roman tensed, keeping his eyes on them. He looked up to meet Logan's eye.
"Patton wouldn't appreciate this," he whispered.
Logan shook his head. "No, but I still have Virgil. He's Other as well."
He pounced on Roman.
