The times of dark magic
Of dragons, of elves
Of prophesy, birthright, and gold
Of monsters and witches,
Of powerful swords,
Adventures and stories of old,

Have faded to fiction
And paperback books
For children to wonder and play
Yet some of these stories,
While not quite the same
Are still making magic today;

A lady's Prince Charming
In glistening garb
His steed made of rubber and steel.
A dark desperado
Escaping the law
Will stop for a take-away meal.

A black bearded pirate
Protecting his loot;
The oil he stole with his crew.
The monsters and dragons
All put in a cage
And set on display in a zoo

The felines and canines
That walk on two legs
And speak in the language of men
Recorded on YouTube
Eternally viewed
Again and again and again

The bad and the righteous
The evil, the good
The towers of dizzying height
They're there all around you
If only you look
Or dream of them late in the night.
