My classroom is on the second floor so I checked there first. But they weren't in there. I didn't already miss them have I? No, there was still about five minutes before we started.
Someone should already be here. Even if it was only the teachers. Could they be in the other classroom? Maybe. I bolt out the room and go back down stairs. The other class going with us to the museum was on the other side of the school. When I entered the hall, I could see that the classroom lights weren't on. I groaned and hurried off to try to find where we were supposed to wait.
I went to the gym, the office was closed, and then back to my class. Just when I'm getting really stressed out, I remember where the teachers said to meet. I smack my forehead and run to the school library.
"There you are." Porsha said from the doorway.
"Sorry." I gasped. "I couldn't remember where we were supposed to meet for the life of me."
"You're always so forgetful." She laughed. "Come on, the rest of the classes are over here. There are still people straggling in, so in a way you're not late."
"That's good."
What a relief. I was worried that I was going to miss the field trip for sure.
"Maybe. But the teachers are getting a little stressed. Or annoyed? I don't know, but we should probably sit in the back if possible."
Nodding, I follow Porsha to a table in the back where Mincy, Dencha and Max were sitting.
"About time." Mincy said, nudging me as I sat down.
"Shh. We should keep quiet." Dencha whispered. "Ms. J is on a war path."
"Alright class. Let's go over this one more time for those who just walked in." Ms. Jensen announced. "In the museum we need you all to be on your best behavior. That means no fooling around, no screaming etc." I couldn't help but notice that she was looking directly at Menchara and his friends as she was talking.
They almost weren't aloud to go on any more field trips because of what happened last time. Heck, they were the ones that nearly got the rest of us band from the planetarium. The boys had made a complete mess of the models of the solar systems. The only reason why we weren't band was because they were forced to clean it up and help put it back together. In the end only Menchera and his friends were band.
It's because of one of them had sent in an apology letter on behalf of all of them that Ms. Jensen and Mr. Henderson felt merciful enough to let them come along this time. On one condition.
"Menchera, Billy, Charles, Angle, Tracey, Ron, and Fred. You have to stay by me or Ms. Jensen at all times. Period." Mr. Henderson said.
"How's that fair?" Tracey muttered.
"It's fair because you destroyed an exhibit in the Planetarium. We can't trust you on your own. If you wonder off somewhere without us, then you can forget going on anymore field trips for the rest of the year."
"What if one us has to use the bathroom?" Fred asked.
"Then you'll have to ask one of us to go with you."
"Great..." I heard Menchera grumble. Which got him a quick glare from Ms. Jensen.
"As for the rest of you, you will be put into groups. When I call your names please go sit at a table together." Ms. Jensen said. She picked up a clip board off the table next to her and began calling out names. Turns out that there were about five people per group except for Menchera's group. It wasn't until the last three groups that I heard my name.
