I started the day on a good foot. I actually made an effort to get ready, maybe because the year was already over and well I only made an effort to look nice 5 or 6 days in the school year. I didn't have a reason to look nice, if you decided to stay my friend on my worst looking days well...
I put on some skinny jeans with a blue shirt that had lace on the short sleeves and a bow in the back showing the top of my back. My hair was pinned over my left shoulder in loose waves and I had a light brown shadow over my lids. To finish the look I added liner to my waterline. I wasnt drool worthy like the pretty girls in school, but I did look nice, and I guess that's a start.

My first period flew by, and for some reason I was nervous for second period. I approached the class with confidence, but I felt smaller with each step I took. When I got in the room there were only 2 kids sitting down. I sighed in relief and took my seat hoping he wouldn't show, but I knew I'd be disappointed if he didn't. Before I could contemplate too much one of my friend took a seat next to me, starting a conversation quickly.
As the minutes ticked by it seemed like he wouldn't show, so I was surprised when he slipped in 2 minutes after the bell had rang.
"Nice of you to join us for the party Mr. Martinez." Mr. Phillips joked.
"Eh wouldn't be a party without me." Samuel joked back as he slipped into his seat in front of mine. He swiveled in his seat to look at me giving me a smile. I could tell my friend was drooling at the sight, but I just looked down letting my bangs fall into my face, a habit I had taken up on lately.
"Hey." He said the smile still as wide as ever making my heart flutter.
"Hey." I mumbled along with my friend who seemed to be a little more confident than me. He looked over at her almost as if he was barely taking notice to her. After a quick once over he turned his eyes back to me.
"What's up?" He said while trying to scoot his desk closer to mine.
"Oh, you know, nothing much." I teased hoping I sounded some type of confident. He let out a low chuckle that made my heart rattle against my rib cage while my stomach did somersaults.
"Wanna go smoke with me later?" He said with his bright smile plastered on his face. I looked down again hoping to cover the tinge of red that ran to my cheeks because of that smile.
"I don't smoke." I laughed out once I managed to raise my head again.
"Oh you don't?" He asked playfully while I shook my head side to side rapidly.
"I'll smoke with you." My friend said with a suggestive smile. I felt my heart tighten at the thought of that happening, and when he gave her another glance I felt my heart sink. It's not like I would change my answer because of it, I refused to feel like I should change my beliefs for a guy I like just because my friend might win him over.
"Nah I was just kidding, I just wanted to see what she'd say. " Samuel said his eyes landing back on mine as he started his statement. His lips rising into a smirk as soon as he realized I was shocked by that response.
"Oh." Was all she mumbled.
"Maybe next time." I joked with a shrug our eyes never separating.
"Yeah. Maybe next time. I'll see you later. " He said with a smile as he got up from he's chair. He moved to the other side of the room to talk to some guy he knew.
"Ugh, you're so lucky, Mill." My friend mumbled making me snap to her really quick.
"Wouldn't call it lucky. " I mumbled back. Yes, we kinda did flirt, but we'd never be able to be together, and that was the most unlucky part of all.
