As Samuel Seabury was falling, a woman caught him and gently held him by his waist. His tears were falling at a fast pace as his face turned bright red. He sniffles and looked at the girl's face. She had soft green eyes and blonde hair. He looked back down as he sobbed quietly."Hey. Shhh, are you okay?" The girl asked. She sat on her knees as Samuel fell to the ground. He continued to cry and clutch his chest. The girl knew what was going on. She pulled him to her and laid his head in the crook of her neck. She softly stroked his ginger locks as he bawled into her neck. Her other arm was wrapped comfortingly around his shoulders. His body shook with sobs and his eyes were glistening with falling tears.
"Et bene. Locavit eam." She whispered in his ear.
(It's okay. Let it out.)
Samuel glanced up at her with red, puffy eyes. His breathing was erratic and his lip quivered. She smiled at him softly and he stared at her with a newfound light. He didn't think he would find someone who didn't hate him or try to fight him. This girl seemed to actually care.
"W-who are yo-ou?" He stuttered and coughed a bit on his tears. The girl smiled and wiped some of his tears on her sleeve.
"My name is Emilia April. I saw what had happened. I apologize for his behavior. That was not necessary to hurt you like that." Emilia said. She continued to hold Samuel as his tears eventually slowed.
"That's a n-nice name." He said. He sniffled once more and wrapped his arms around her torso. Emilia smiled and hugged him a bit tighter.
"My name is S-Samuel Seabury." He said. Emilia laughed softly and rubbed his back lightly.
"I know that. You said it when you went up to the stage. That was pretty brave you know?" She said. Samuel looked up at her again and smiled awkwardly.
"It was?" He asked in a small voice. Emilia nodded.
"It was very brave, Sam. You kept telling what you needed to say, even as you were shamed." She said. Samuel blushed and smiled.
"C'mon, stand up, fortem virum." She said.
(Brave man)
Samuel blushed. He knew what she was saying. He had been fluent in Latin before he became the priest for the King. He stood up and Emilia wrapped an arm around his shoulders. They walked away from the scene and to one of the small parks downtown. They sat on one of the benches by a small pond.
"Do you need anything? I can buy you a drink or some food." She said. Sam shook his head and smiled.
"I think I'm alright. Thank you madame." He said. His eyes were still slightly puffy and his smile seemed strained. Emilia frowned.
"Come here." She said. She held her arms open for Samuel to hug her. He blushed lightly and snuggled into her side. His head sat on her shoulder and her arms wrapped around him as she gently stroked his back.
"It's alright to cry some more. It's not vulnerability, it's simply allowing yourself to take a break from all the bravery." Emilia said and smiled. Samuel smiled lightly as a few more tears fell. Emilia wipes them with her thumb and hugs him tightly, still stroking his back. Samuel has never met someone like this. Someone to care for him when everyone else seemed to want to bring pain.
"What do ya say we go to the pub? I think you could use a drink." Emilia said, winking. Samuel smiled and nodded. He pulled out of her embrace and stood up as she did the same. He kissed her cheek and took her arm as they walked off to the nearest bar.
I know I know. Hella floofy. But Samuel is hella floofy! I'm sorry for the short chapter but I wanted to hurry up and start on the next. I hope y'all liked it!
