The next day, 3rd person POV

Emilia woke up early with Samuel cuddled to her side. He looked quite adorable with his auburn hair a mess and his arms wrapped around her torso. Emilia smiled and gently unwrapped his arms from her body and got up from the bed. She walked towards her small dresser and took out a dress to wear until it was time to prepare for the ball. It was to be around 6pm and at their home. Emilia took out the dress, not bothering to use a corset but instead use bandages to cover her...

lady parts.

She changed in the washroom and walked back out quickly to make breakfast for Samuel. It was some simple toast and milk but it would do. She set out some butter and jelly for the toast and walked back up to her room to wake up Samuel. She stepped through the door to see Sam continuing to sleep peacefully, his body curled around a pillow and his face was snuggled into it. Emilia smiles and walked over to his side. She gently nudged his shoulder.

"Wake up, darling. Good morning!" She cooed softly. Samuel's arms tightened around the pillow and he hummed.

"I don't wanna!" He mumbled childishly. Emilia scoffed and pulled the pillow away from him and he shot up.

"I'm up! Give me my pillow back!" He said playfully, rubbing his eyes. Em smirked and threw his pillow at him, walking back out of the room.

Samuel put on some appropriate clothing and followed soon after. He walked down the stairs of the home and looked around, soon finding Emilia in the kitchen, finishing up breakfast. He smiled slightly and walked to the ice box, getting a jar of milk out and put into glasses. He set them down on the counter and took one, sipping it lightly,

"Finally up, Seaberry?" Emilia asked with an amused grin. Sam rolled his eyes playfully and nodded.

"Yes, I am. That isn't my surname." He said with a small pout on his face. Emilia giggles softly.

"I'm pretty sure it is your surname, Sam." She said smoothly. She wiped her hands on her apron and set the food on the table. Samuel smiled and gently kissed her cheek.

"It looks lovely, my dear. Thank you." He smiles softly and sits down, preparing everything. Emilia sits down not long after and begins to eat after saying grace. Samuel's face lights up as he takes a bite. "Goodness, Emilia. Who taught you too cook?" He asked, eating a bit more. Emilia smiled and blushed softly.

"My mother did, actually. She taught me everything I know. She was a very smart woman." Em said, smiling at the memories. Samuel nodded and stopped.

"Was? What happened?" He asked curiously. Emilia nodded sadly.

"Mother passed away a few years back. Yellow Fever caught up to her. Rumor has it that it comes from the ground, but I don't believe that silly story. I think it comes from bugs. Mosquitos, perhaps." She says thoughtfully. If it came from the very soil they stand on, then everyone would have it. Samuel stopped and nodded slowly.

"You know, I think you may just be correct. Your theory makes much more sense than what everyone else is saying." Samuel said with a smile. Emilia smiled back and continued eating as Sam did.

After the two were finished with breakfast, Samuel decided to take a walk and go into town. He found Emilia sitting on the sofa, reading "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine. He knew she was very passionate about the independence.

"Emilia, my dear. I'm going to take a walk and go into the market. I'll be back in around thirty minutes." He said, bending down to kiss Emilia's cheek. She nodded, glancing up and back down at her book.

"Alright, Sammy. Be careful, darling. If you see that Alexander Hamilton, be sure to stay away from him. He's, for lack of a better word, an ass." She said, looking up and smiling. Samuel chuckled softly and nodded.

"Of course. Farewell, my lady." He said, walking out of the door. Emilia sighed, smiling and went back down to reading.

Meanwhile, Samuel set out on a mission. He was going to buy his lovely companion some flowers. Not just any flowers, the best flowers in existence. Of course, he had no clue what type they were, but he loved flowers either way. He had exchanged some of the coins he had from England for the American currency, as many shops would not take the money he had.

The auburn haired man made his way to the market stalls, seeing a very vibrant one at the end. He rushed towards it and gazed at the flowers in awe. Like mentioned, he loved flowers. No matter what type they were. He looked all around the stall until one specific bouquet caught his eye. It was about ten Alstromeria. (Above image)

They were bright orange. Samuel knew that only specific flowers were able to survive the winter, but these were gorgeous. Fierce. Just like Emilia. Samuel blushed softly at the thought.

"Hello. Erm, how much for those?" He pointed at the flowers while talking to the shop owner. She was an older lady with a smile on her face.

"Buying them for a lady friend?" She asked. Samuel blushed and nodded. The old lady chuckled softly.

"Yes ma'am. She is very special to me." Samuel said, thinking of Emilia. The owner nodded.

"They're free." She said simply. Samuel looked up at her with wide eyes. He couldn't accept this! Simply not!

"Ma'am, I cannot accept this offer! I can pay for them-" Samuel was cut off by the woman.

"You can, and you will. Now, take them and give them to your friend. She sounds like a lovely dear." The lady said wistfully. She had a thoughtful smile on her face. Samuel stopped for a moment and nodded. He was handed the flowers and he smiled.

"Thank you, so so much ma'am." He said kindly. The old lady just shook her head.

"Treat her with respect. Women deserve that in these trying times." She said. Samuel nodded again. Women's rights was certainly different, but as far as he was concerned, Emilia deserved all the rights in the world. Sam thanked the woman quickly before making his way back home.

Samuel stopped into the house with the flowers and began to call out that he had arrived, but he stopped in his tracks. There on the sofa lay a sleeping Emilia. He checked the time and it was only about nine o'clock in the morning, and he wasn't sure if Em got enough rest. He just smiled softly and took a vase from the kitchen cabinet, filled it with water, and set the flowers in it. He set the vase on the small table beside the sofa and smiled. He leaned down and kissed Emilia's head.

   "Sleep well, my dear."
