(3rd person POV)After the two had their walk, they went back home and sat in the drawing room together. Emilia layed on the sofa while Samuel layed with her, his head on her chest and Em's arms around him, on stroking his auburn locks.
"Are you okay?" Emilia asked. Samuel looked at her oddly.
"Why wouldn't I be?" He questioned. Emilia sighed.
"What happened earlier with the letter. How are you holding up?" She asked. Sam smiled softly.
"I'm doing as well as I can. It hurts to be called a disgrace to your home. Do you know how it feels?" He said with tears that he refused to let fall.
"I do. My mother, as I've said, wasn't the kindest woman. She hated me. She treated me like a slave and throw things at me. My father and brother were always there for me. So yes, I know what it's like to be called a disgrace." Em said. A tear dripped onto her neck as she realized Sam had begun to cry again. She held his head against her and kissed his temple.
"It's alright. Hey, how about since you have nowhere else to go, you can stay with me. Does that sound good?" She asked. Sam smiled slightly and nodded, wiping away his tears.
An hour or two passed and Samuel had fallen asleep with Emilia. Em smiled at the sleeping man and kissed his forehead. She gently got off the couch and went to go make some food for them both. She looked through her things to see what all she could make. She decided on making some potato soup with some bread.
She took out all the utensils she needed and grabbed some potatoes, beef, and some vegetables. She cut up the potatoes and began to boil them over the fire. She also cooked the beef and vegetables with it. She heated the bread over the fire and set it on a plate when she was done. About an hour later, the table was set with two steaming bowls of soup and bread. Emilia smiled at her work and went to go wake Samuel up.
She walked towards the drawing room and saw Samuel on the couch, asleep. Something was off though. He was shaking and murmuring.
"No...no no no please. Please stop, dont hurt me!" He cried quietly. His face was pale and tears escaped his eyes. His breathing was heavy and short as he thrashed around on the couch. Emilia ran over to him and held him in her arms.
"Shhh! It's just a nightmare, darling. Shhh." She cooed in his ear. He continued to cry and shake.
"P-please!" He cried again. Was he living a memory? Emilia shook him to try and wake him up. He just continued to shake and hyperventilate so she tried one more thing. She smashed her lips against his and kissed him with force and passion. He stopped breathing so hard and quit talking. His eyes fluttered open after a few seconds but they closed again as he kissed back. They pulled away after a minute and he hugged her, still shaking slightly.
"You had a nightmare didn't you?" Emilia asked. He blushed in embarrassment and nodded. She kissed the top of his head and hugged him tightly.
"Want some soup?" She asked with a small smile. Samuel nodded and got up with Emilia. They walked into the kitchen and sat down, Sam moved his bowl beside Em.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Em asked. Sam hesitated and nodded. He cleared his throat.
"It w-was when King George found out that I had failed one of my earlier tasks. I was s-supposed to spread the word in the South but they didn't listen. He...he hurt me. He kicked me multiple times and left sword marks down my arms and back. The scars are still there." He said, gently rubbing at his arm. Em gasped. How could anyone do that to someone so kind?
