We stayed at the river for a couple of hours and then we walked back to our houses. We stood on the between our houses and said:

"So," I said

"Oh yeah, I picked this up for you on the way back" Tom handed me a small flower

"I thought you might have something as you have done the 'I have to tie up my shoelaces' trick one too many times and that might have worked every time if-" I pointed down at his shoes "you had shoes with laces that you could tie-up" I laughed

"Oh yeah" He went bright red in the face and run his hand through his brown curls

*12 years earlier*

"Mya, I need to just tie up my shoelaces. Can you wait a minute?"

"Sure" I replied

It didn't take us long to get back to my house and he said "Have this" He gave me a daisy

"So this is what tying your nonexistent shoelaces helped get this"

He looked down at his shoes and laughed and went red in the face.

"I'll see you tomorrow then at the diner?"

"Sure" He replied

We both smiled at each other and I took the flower from his hand and we both turned in the opposite direction.

I walked up to my front door and my sister opened it before I had a chance to knock on the door.

"Mum wants you, she's in the kitchen,"  Laura said with a big smile on her face

I slowly walked to the kitchen and walked up to my mum. She got up and gave me the biggest hug in the universe.

"I was so worried about where you had gone. Where were you all day? You didn't have your phone on you so I couldn't ring you. I was so worried"

"Okay, calm down, I was that the river with Tom, and no one else. You could have rung him you know that" I was walking over to the cupboard which we held all the vases in to find the best one to put this flower in.

"You were with Tom?!"

The cupboard was quite big so I was able to sit in the cupboard which meant that I couldn't hear my mum and I didn't answer her straight away. Bad decision.

"MYA!"

I lifted my head and banged it on the top of the draw as I was practically at the back of the cupboard.

"Yes!" I said while rubbing my head.

"Did you just say you were out with Tom?"

"Yes. You didn't hear me wrong"

"Just making sure"

I picked up the vase then walked to the sink and put some water in it and then put the flower in the vase. I took it upstairs and walked to my bedside table and placed the vase on the table. I clicked on the bedside light and sat down on my bed and took off my boots.

I walked over the window to open it as it was really hot in here now for some reason and I saw Tom sitting on his bed reading his book. I didn't really realise how long I had been staring out of the window at him until he looked up and waved at me. He took his phone off his desk and the light reflected off his glasses.

Tom:

I see you, you know

I have my glasses on

Me:

Funny

Real funny

I'm pretty sure that you only wear them as a fashion statement

Tom:

I know I am thanks x

Yeah I do to be fair

I looked up at him and just rolled my eyes. I saw his face light up as he was laughing.

Me:

Night tom x

Tom:

Night x

I saw the letter that he had dropped on the floor earlier and I picked it up and turned it around and saw that it had my name on it.

So I opened it...
