"So they have a karaoke night at the diner and I've never heard of it?!" I say wiping my eyes.

"Yep, and I know the best thing to cheer you up," Tom said as he pushed the door of the diner open.

He walked up to the makeshift stage at the end of the diner and made his way over to the laptop. Then he started singing, surprisingly.

"At times like these, when life is getting me down and the world seems like it's going to end...ship"

I stood at the door and laughed.

"There's at least one power that we both still have and that's the power of..."

"Friendship"

"Yeah that's exactly what I was going to say" Tom spoke

"Yeah it's an easy rhyme" I replied

I walked up to the stage while Tom carried on singing and I sang along when I could

"When you need a compliment, I can rattle off a dozen. For instance, I have to say I'm not impressed by your more famous cousin"

"Thank you! No one ever says that"

"Oh he's all like I'm superman woopdeee woopdee woo"

"That's a really good impression"

"Thanks"

*An hour later*

It was about midnight when we got home and I knew my mum was going to kill me but hopefully, she'd see that I was happy (well as happy as I can be) and not grill me over it.

"I had fun, well after what we call that 'party' or whatever Cheryl threw was" I laughed

"I'd like to call it a grilling" Tom replied

"True. Also, I loved your cover of you made me love you was pretty amazing"

"Why thank you," Tom said

"I'm gonna go inside now," I said pointing to my house just like the idiot that I am

"Alright, night Mya" Tom walked towards me and I opened my arms to give him a hug.

Once we pulled back, I looked into his eyes and the next thing I knew his lips were crashing into mine.

(an: it's kinda funny that I was writing that last sentence and carless whisper started at that moment, that was weird)
