Meliodas walks casually with the crunch of dry grass prevailing each step he took. He remembers everything about the small hideout he found before the first Holy War began. Before he was crowned as future king. He remembers the smell of faint verdure, the small path he made in the side of the castle leading to a small hidden part of it. Finding an unknown room that's never been found by any demon but he. Going inside the small gap, he was almost surprised to still be able to fit through. His hands press against the rock on the opposite side his back was against and pushes himself through. When he did get to the other side, eternal candles were still lit up after all these years. And the dust was built up after it being never cleaned or used for so long. It gave him Déjà vu.
Meliodas grazes his fingers among the spines of old books he'd always read when he was young. He'd remember reading them over and over, memorizing old poets that explained thousands of years of history before his time came to exist. He looks at his fingers to see clumps of dust gathered at the tips
The sound of old floorboard creeks in age and bookshelves are cracked from wearing down of the weight of thick books.
"I didn't think you'd come this early, but I should have known, your need to know what's happened in our history was inevitable." Chandler coos softly, holding his cane with both hands on one side. "Where would you like me to start, young master?"
Meliodas replys immediately, "the beginning." I need to know the orgins or how it began...
"Then I will start at the beginning of our time." Chandler holds a particularly large book, a few pages hanging out from it, it's cover burned so the title was barely seen and the spine having bits of dragon leather start peal. He blows the thin layer of dust that settled on it, then handed it to the younger demon.
"Your betrayal did not trigger the events of the first Holy War, nor did the imbalanced power of humans rivaling highly leveled demons was normal, not even the slightest. The sudden high death rate was not because of the war, but because of one thing." Chandler holds out his index finger, "Indura: it's what started the curse of 'Madden'."
Meliodas frantically shakes his head, "wait- how do you know all this? Hardly anyone living has never heard of the Curse of Madden. This is even my few times hearing of it but never really understanding it."
Chandler clicks his tongue, "maybe listen to your elders when they speak and don't interrupt? It was never a pretty story, but allow me to explain..." He flicks his hand, causing the old book that Meliodas is holding open and skim through hundreds of pages. A small breeze of the pages made Meliodas' hair flow gently. Chandler could see the interest peak inside the younger demon.
"It all began, when an unnamed demoness came into this world, seeking peace between all clans of every nation--"
