Just Like Him

His eyes were tired, his heart aches, and he desired for his love to return. A few hours has it been and Merlin(including Gowther) have not returned. The only thing that kept his mind at peace was his infant daughter. The pureness of her petite face made him warmly smile as he recognized those familiar features. She had Meliodas' face shape and natural long lashes; however, her hair was a pale blue like his, and it seemed that his red eyes dominated over green.

His hands were gentle, so scared and shaky to even dare to move. He wanted to keep her safe and warm from any harm. This is his daughter. His only child.

"Be safe..." Ban whispers.

The exit and entrance door of the bar opens and a feminine voice says she'll be out for a bit to a short fairy. After closing the door, the freezing breeze finally caught her and she shivers in the boar hat uniform. Her arms cross and rub her hands on her upper arms, hoping they would generate some heat. She looks over to see the immortal holding a bundle of blankets in his arms ever so gently. Diane warmly smiles,

"Somehow I knew where little Scarlet would be if she wasn't in her crib."

Ban didn't respond, only continued to protectively keeping the cold breeze away from his child. The human sized giant sighs.

"Being out here in the cold, at night, makes you look creepy. You should come in, it's warm for Scarlet." Diane gestured a hand towards the door of the tavern. It's light illuminating in the dark, exposing the dense bunch of rich green forest trees, surrounding tavern.

In the fields stood Camelot Kingdom, in ruins, fallen into giant bits like pieces of a puzzle being torn apart. Many citizens have had casualties; for those who weren't quick to react were crushed alive, some escaped with broken or snapped bones. Some impatiently pulled their arms or legs free(not waiting for help) causing chunks of flesh to tear off their body's to the point where the bone was showing.

Children outside of the castle screamed and ran as fast as they could. The assigned guards of the royal family's sacrificed their lives in order to protect the heirs to live on. They needed rest, so the only place nearby that was never in part of the destruction was the tavern. They demanded hospitality and the finest of beds to sleep on, along with food and aid. Ban almost blew up on the greedy royals, but kept his cool. All rooms were taken.

Merlin's was too dangerous, but she was gone anyways to find Meliodas so she would most likely not want anyone looking through her experiments. King and Diane share the same room, and Zeldris stayed with the injured King of Camelot, Arthur. Ban's was strictly off limits due to his child sleeping and because it only belongs to the use of his family. Not some spoiled royal children and greedy adults who demand aid. Just replaying his memory over and over pissed him off by just how stubborn royals really are...

"Why aren't we able to have our own rooms? We demanded hospitality, and we expect it right now!"

Diane raises her brows in worry and looks to King then Ban, "I'm sorry but this is the best we can do, we have an infant and an injured king, we can't do anymore to help except give you blankets to sleep out here." She tried her best to get the words out, for she was never good at speaking to men and women that are wealthy, important and high class before. The only kind woman of royalty she ever really met and liked was a young lady named, Elizabeth. Gods did she miss her.

"I don't believe how you flock of idiotic knights dare to reject our demands!" The princess in the front crosses her arms and her face twists in anger as she curses her words with salt, "to think we'd be disrespected like this!?" Now the young princess was causing a scene. Noble people stared in slight fear of what the higher class would do if the sins were to not listen to their demands. Some of the nobleman began to plead 'please, just give them what they want...'

This time the immortal stepped in front of the stuttering envy sin who seemed to be on the verge of tears. "Listen here," Ban firmly says, pointing his index, gaining the attention of the men and women of royalty to look at him, "you've got two options so you're very limited on decision making. We've got an infant, injured king and our own family to feed and shelter. I don't care if you're royalty, and I don't care if you're cold and hungry. There are people below your so called 'status' that survive in conditions hundreds of times worse than yours. So you may accept as much aid as we can give you, or you can fuck off!" He doesn't wait for their response, instead he turns around to head upstairs.

The embarrassment in their faces was something Diane would never forget, she chuckles even now at how they regretted their argument after Ban jumped in.
Frowning once more as she heard Ban sigh, Diane knew well as to why he's not talking much, so she began with a couple pats on his shoulder. "I know you worry for the Captain, but as far as I know he's trying to help Arthur and Zeldris through a difficult time."

I know... I can't help but want to keep him for myself... I can't control my greed...

"The captain will come back to us sins soon, like he said, he's going to try and return before forty-eight hours have passed." I hope... Diane found it harder to comfort the immortal more than she thought. She couldn't do much, nor did she have the words like the Captain does. She was lost in thought, thinking twice and doubting so much that she imagined worse things that may happen. Was this what Ban felt?

Feeling at though your heart is being crushed by weight worse than being crushed by a boulder. That pit in the throat that prevented you from speaking any further and all you could do was listen to your conscious.

She bit her bottom lip to push herself to say something; anything at all. But nothing came out except, "I'm sorry." And left to be back inside the welcoming warmth of the tavern.
Leaving Ban alone in the bitter cold of the night breeze.

Ban once more looks down in his arms to see Scarlet slowly open her eyes, she yawns widely exposing her gums that have no teeth, before she closed it and looked at Ban tiredly. Blinking ever so slowly.

Her eyes then open widely for her bright red dominant eyes to glare from the tavern lights. Her cheeks chubby, and hair thin, Ban couldn't imagine what this feeling was. Is this what it feels like being a Father? To have his own blood cradled carefully in his arms.

You look just like him...

Ban felt his eyes go dry and blurry. The feeling of his nose flushed, and his teeth gritting, along with the bitter cold making him tremendously shake. He curses under his breath while leaning in to gently land his forehead on his infant's. And in that moment as he closed his eyes, tepid tears drip on the chubby cheeks of Scarlet's.

The atmosphere or pain and sorrow suffocated Ban as the only thing he could hear was his child's desperate cry.

Please... Come back safely.
