A week has passed and Challery is now two days away from her trip to New York. The place sounded amazing. A twelve hour trip from Athenia to this new city was worth it. She would get to see the site of the twin tours, the statue of liberty and maybe even attend a Broadway show. Yousuf decided that Challery could take these last two days for herself to prepare for the long trip. He had finally decided to take his wife to the moon and called in ill for the past week as visits to outer space gave him a flu. One time Challery had to try warming him up with electrical impulses because his body temperature was lowered after a moon visit.
This morning in particular Challery felt really hungry and decided to get to work on some cheese empanadas and a strawberry smoothie. She hadn't heard Ariel for the week. Sometimes her bestfriend got really caught up with work and Jasper was also a demanding handful. This year they were hoping to start a family. Not only to regain Ariel's shapeshifting powers but because they loved the idea of being amazing parents.
Challery's parents had left early the morning for work but her older sister was at home catching up on some much needed rest. While dicing strawberries, bananas and mixing almond milk Challery heard her sister enter the kitchen.
"Good morning sleepy head."
Malory was a tall thin 27-year-old who looked like a 19-year-old.
"I dreampt of Randy last night. Then I woke up with this on my arm," she pointed to a wilted rose, beautiful but depressing to look at.
"Is Randy okay?" Challery asked starting the blender.
"He said he's rather go blind than be pained with having to fight the war of missing me."
Plus there seemed to be an issue at the army's headquarters.
Randy was a member of the Athenian National Defence Force. He was a trained and certified creator. Both he and Malory could paint or draw anything and bring it to life.
Malory was missing him terribly and was misssing the amazing sex that she had gotten accustomed to. They often went round after round once the moon was full. It just made it all the more special. Sometimes she lay awake crying thinking about how amazing things were.
"Maybe some of this will cheer you up M." Challery poured her a full glass of delicious strawberry, banana and almond milk smoothie sliding it over to Malory on the gray, granite counter top.
"Sure, how about two of the empanadas?" Malory asked, she was super tired but super hungry also.
The girls started on the quick but nutricious meal.
As the Monti girls started to pack up the wares at the table Chalory felt a sharp pain in her stomach. Malory realize the grimace on her face.
"Everything okay CM? You don't look so well."
"Recently, I've bee getting a really weird feeling in my abdomen. I was thinking it is maybe my bipolar medication mixed with the increase in electricity I have in my vibration," Challery painfully explained.
"Girl, I told you to get off that stuff. Bipolar people are just really talented creative spirits. You don't need any of that."
Malory was passionate about the mental health community as a nutritionist and always grew new fruits and vegetables from her mind for her baby sister to try.
But it seemed as though she was never able to cure Challery's mania or depression.
Over the next couple hours Challery decided to lock herself in her room to test her powers. Malory by this time was back in bed and off to dreamland. Challery clicked her tongue turning on and off her bedroom light. Then she unscrewed the bulb from the socket by communicating with that atoms in the atmosphere. The bulb came out and floated acorss the lilac bedroom. Challery picked up a paintbrush from her desk with her mind and dipped it in pink oil paint jusy by pointing with her index finger. She painted all around the bulp and created a small fire in her left hand so it could dry quickly. She then gave rise to air and sent the bulb floating back to its socket. Within a couple moments the room was filled with an exciting pink strain of light. Challory closed her eyes and pointed at everything blue. She quickly set them to float in the ceiling. A blue umbrella, her phone case, a keyring and book cover. When she opened her eyes she got the colours right all were indeed blue. But then a strange feeling of tirednes came over Challery and she decided it best to take a rest.
The next morning Challery woke up early to head to the airport. Her brother Max decided to drive her along with her parents, Malory, Ariel and Jasper. Max said that one day he'd like to build his powers of flying enough to fly to far cities like New York. That was one thing Challery liked about Max he was always excited when he talked about his powers. When they got to the aiport there wasn't much time between saying goodbye and heading through customs. Yousuf also turned up with his wife Val to say goodbye. Everyone had good wishes for Challery.
"Here's a little tip to get around," Ariel said and she placed an envelope filled with a couple hundred dollars in Challery's hand.
"Thank you love!" Challery exclaimed; she was always grateful for any financial help from her super rich friend.
"We'll miss you see M" Her dad said kissing her on the forehead. Shewas going to miss Lake City and Athenia. The small town of love filled with soulmates and people with powers. New York was a pretty normal city though it was an exciting place to be. No flying brothers or bestfriends who shiftshaped into cats. It was a good place you know. With these thoughts in mind she started the playlist of music from America like "New-York" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus music. She sat back as the plane jetted down the runway out of site New-York bound. This was going to be exciting. Finding love...Finding my powers...being marked finally. Challery's life was about to change forever.
