The plane touched down at JFK around 4 A.M the next morning. Challery breathed a sigh of releif e as she exited customs. A lady stood in the distance with a card with her name on it.
She waved and they headed towards a black minivan.
The taxin driver helped her to pack her luggage in the back.
"First time in the city Challery?" the taxi driver asked. She was a blonde who seemed nice and intoduced herself as Sara.
"Yes mam and I'm so excited."
"Yeah, New York is pretty exciting. Lot's to do and it never sleeps,"Sara said.
The drive took about four hours and Challery must have drifted off to sleep because by the time she opened her eyes she was in a neighbourhood in Manhattan.
The air was cool and she had to bundle up a bit as snow covered the ground about  two inches. Challery paid Sara and made her way to the grounds of the large buildings. The neighbourhood now seemed to be waking up but Challery was so exhausted she couldn't be bothered to explore her new surroundings. She entered a keycode for her room 313 at the top of the corridor on the third floor.
She pulled out her phone to tell her mom she was home.
The phone rang and rang.
No reply. She decided to send a text instead.

A message popped up from Ariel.📳
[Whattsapp: Ariel💓

Ariel: Hey ❤ I hope you made it in safe. Its 12 PM here. Hope you find love soon.

Challery: Hey girl. The place is pretty bomb. No soulmate in sigh yet though lol.

Ariel: What's the plan today?

Challery: Imma sleep off this jet lag then head out to take some photos.

Ariel: Okay get your beauty rest Queen. Keep me posted 'K?

Challery: For Sure A.

She placed her phone on the charger next to the Queen sized bed in the beige room. The outside was beautiful, snowy and wet but a sight nonetheless.
She got a quick shower and tested to see if her powers were working by removing the ceiling bulb but nothing happened.
That's strange- She couldn't detect blue with her eyes closed either.

She counted her  powerlessness for her being tired. So she got out the shower carefully dried her toes and bundled up for a rest which lasted into the night.
There were three missed calls from her mom when she woke hours later.
She decided to redial.
"Hey mom" Her mother picked up on the second ring.
"Hey baby how is it?" Mrs Monti asked.
"Kinda cold at this time and my electricity and blue recognition powers seemed to stop."
"Baby Athenia is a pretty magical city. Those powers don't work alone out side of Athenia unless you find a soulmate."
"Shoot. I hope something happens soon."
"Don't worry. You'll know it not when you see it but when you feel it."
"Tell daddy, Malory and Max that I say hello. I'm going to head back to bed."
"Okay baby stay safe," Ms Monti made kissing noises into the receiver.
Challery decided to peep outside a bit but then decided that she needed her energy for the next day.
The night seemed to pass in a matter of minutes.
And with that a new rising sun beamed in the sky.  The cityscape was amazing when she got outside. There were high rise buildings and tourists everywhere. She decided to cut through the park and purchased some fruit from a minivan.
That's when she felt another weird tug in her stomach and her blue recognition powers started again. She could sense eyes staring at her. She felt as though she had a soul connection but with who? She looked around but only saw a mother and her baby bundled in her arm. Hmm she thought that's weird. She still felt the warm pull in her abdomen and every part of her felt nervous and tingly. She felt excited and knew instantly that her soulmate was somewhere nearby. She paid the fruit vendor and decided to sit on a nearby bench. She still felt too jet lagged to take pictures.
The snow falled lightly in the morning sky and she decided to hail a cab to tour around the city.
Whatever that feeling is I hope it intensifies tomorrow. The chocolate brown girl pulled out her mini mirror smiling at the reflection that stared back. Not a pimple in her face and dreads down to her back. She looked out the window as they passed the restuarants, the movie cinemas and down town malls.
"Here is fine."
Challerly paid the cab driver and got out by the school where she is supposed to be studying her Masters Programme.
The Great Manhatten University. The building was tall and imposing. She walked by a massive pavillion for football and two basketball courts.
Again she felt a magnetic pull in her stomach. He blue recognition power started again. She felt eyes watching her from across the university campus. Challery came face to face with what she was not expecting to see. A tall blue eyed blond haired jock. He was striking really. He looked directly at her and his faced turned compeletly red.
Challery knew it she had found her soulmate finally. She felt her forehead grow hot. She started to walk quickly in the opposite direction for the nearest bathroom. A mark was growing on the centre of her head. The magnetic feeling was by now decreasing. She found an open door to a ladies room. She looked in the mirror and realized that her once smooth skin glowed even more but now she had a lightning strike in the middle of her head. She felt the feeling intensifying again where her abdomen felt like it was doing summersaults. She felt hot all over and her pulse was throbbing as if someone was sucking on it.

She walked straight out of the bathroom and pass the tall stranger who looked at her like he had seen an angel. Daniel Johnson was the tall jock's name and he knew that this was the girl he was made for. He wanted to move from the spot he was standing on but couldn't. He felt this way before when he was in Ecuador. Was she there when he had those shocks in his hand? No way, she was too perfect for him.
Too shy to speak Challery walked past Daniel and made an effort to register for her programme. She couldn't believe it. Had she found her soulmate? He seemed too perfect.
