Chapter 12 - I'm not cute!

Natsu's POV

I'm so bored! I was laying down under Lucy's chair as she was drinking her strawberry milkshake. 'What can I do to pass the time?' I wondered as I looked around the guild. My eyes stopped on Ice Stripper and an evil idea popped into my head. 'This will teach you not to mess with me' I thought evilly as I stealthily ran under and the chairs to get to where he was sitting. I quietly positioned myself behind his ankles. 'Hehe' I inwardly snicker and then nipped at one of his ankles.

"OW!" he exclaimed and jumped out of his seat. 'I'm not finished with you yet' I thought as I ran out and nipped his other ankle. "Ow!" he exclaimed again and ran away but I kept nipping at his ankles. "Lucy help!" he called out, helplessly. "I thought you liked fighting with Natsu?" I heard Lucy asked Gray. "Not when he has sharp canine teeth ow!" Gray replied as I nipped at his ankle again.

"Natsu come here" I heard Lucy called out to me so I stopped and ran to her. She picked me up and I snuggled into her warmth. "Thanks Lucy" Gray said, coming over to sit on the seat beside Lucy. I saw Lucy's hair dangle over her shoulder and decided to play with it. "Ow Natsu" Lucy said as she pulled her hair out of my mouth. 'I'm still bored' I thought and then decided to bite my paw to pass the time.

"How sad. Flame Brain's resorting to cannibalism" Gray joked. 'Stupid Stripper' I thought. "Maybe he's bored?" Lucy said, 'Lucy's so smart' I thought. "Bored?" Gray questioned, "I remember reading somewhere that puppies chew more when they're bored" she replied.

"Wait a minute, are you trying to tell me he was trying to make me a human chew toy?!" Gray shouted. "Ah, probably-" Gray interrupted Lucy by slammed his fist onto the bar counter. "I wish I could punch him" he said as he glared at me. I poked my tongue out at him, taunting him. "Did he just poke his tongue out at me?!" he exclaimed and I quickly tucked my tongue back in. I felt Lucy looking down at me so I looked up at her innocently like I did nothing wrong. "That's it!" Gray shouted as he tried to snatched me out of Lucy's arms but I quickly jumped out of her arms before he could grab me. As I ran away from Gray, I tried running under furniture to escape his wrath but he kept knocking them over to get to me.

"Enough!" the scary red-haired lady, Erza, shouted and both of us froze. She seemed more focused on Gray so I took the chance to run away from him. I quickly ran straight to Lucy and hid behind her legs in case Erza decided to direct her anger on me. I saw Gray glaring at me and when Lucy wasn't looking, I poked my tongue out at him. His expression changed to a scowl. I quickly tucked my tongue back in. 'I'm just an innocent puppy' I thought as I felt Lucy's eyes on me.

"I want you to clean up the mess you've made" Erza said to Gray and I inwardly snickered. "But Natsu started it" Gray complained, pointing an accusing finger at me. "A puppy can't knock over furniture Gray" Erza replied before walking over to us. 'Yeah, I'm too small to knock over furniture' I thought. She kneeled down and scratched my back. She was a bit rough but I needed to stay on her good side. I wagged his tail and rolled onto my back letting her scratch my belly to get into her good favour. "You're too cute to make a mess aren't ya Natsu" she said. 'I'm not cute!' I bark angrily before standing back up and moved to stand beside Lucy.

"Hey Erza, I was thinking of taking Natsu to the park to play fetch, do you want to come with us?" Lucy asked. 'Park!' I inwardly cheered with my tail wagging. "Can I come too?" I heard Ice Stripper ask, 'no you can't come' I barked back at him as he came over. "Have you finished cleaning the guild?" Erza asked and we saw the whole guild was back the way it was. "Yep so lets go" he said with a suspicious smirk, that I didn't like the look of, as he walked towards the guild doors. I felt Lucy attach my leash onto my collar and I was eager to be going to the park. She turned to ask Happy if he wanted to join but he said 'no' so we walked out of the guild with Erza.

When we got to Magnolia Southgate Park, Lucy unclipped the leash from my collar and pulled out a ball. "Fetch Natsu" Lucy said and threw the ball across the park. I excitedly ran after it and grabbed it in my mouth. "Bring it back" Lucy encouraged and I happily ran back to her with the ball in my mouth. She held her hand out and I guessed she wanted me to give her the ball so she could throw it again. I put the ball in her hand before taking a few steps back, excitedly waiting for Lucy to throw it again.

She threw it again and after I put the ball in her hand, she held the ball out to Erza. "Want to have a go?" she offered, "gladly" Erza replied as she took the ball from Lucy. Erza accidentally threw the ball out of the park and down the street. I wanted to run after it but it was too far away. 'It's too far' I whined as I looked back at Lucy. "You don't have to run after it little guy" Lucy said cutely. Erza looked sad, "I'm sorry everyone, I'll go get it" she said and went to find the ball. "You don't have to Erza" Lucy said but Erza was already out of earshot.

While I was watching Erza walking off to get the ball, I heard Lucy exclaim "what the hell are you doing?!" and I turned to see that damn Stripper holding my Lucy over his shoulder. "We're playing fetch what else. Fetch Natsu!" he smirked before running off with Lucy. 'Give Lucy back Stripper! She's mine!' I barked as I ran after them.

I chased them all the way to Lucy's apartment, barking insults at him the whole way. As we got inside the apartment, Gray stopped and I took the chance to bite his pants leg. I aggressively tugged on his pants and growled but he still didn't put Lucy down. "Put me down Gray" I heard Lucy say, "not until he apologises for earlier" I heard Gray replied. I let go and looked up at them. Gray had an evil smirk on his face. 'Is he talking about me biting his ankles, poking my tongue out at him and acting innocent to Lucy?' I wondered. "What are you talking about?" Lucy asked confused. "He knows what I'm talking about" he replied as he looked at me with an expectant look. I let out a small whine, he has me cornered. I repeatedly tapped my front paws impatiently, 'please put Lucy down' I whined. Gray still didn't put Lucy down so I swallowed my pride and laid down with my head in between my paws and my ears folded back. 'I'm sorry' I whined as I looked up at Gray with apologetic eyes. With a proud smirk, Gray finally put Lucy down.

She gave him a light glare before scooping me up in her arms. "He's a big meanie, isn't he?" she playfully asked and I licked the tip of my nose. "Awe you're so cute Natsu!" she said before cuddling me to her chest. 'I'm not cute!' I barked angrily. "Sorry I mean handsome" she corrected herself, 'that's better' I thought happily.
