Chapter 7 - Confession

"Natsu, it's time to go the guild" I called out and said puppy ran to my feet. I attached the red leash that I had in my hand to his collar. "Ooh~ kinky" Happy teased and I saw Gray hiding a chuckle behind his hand. "Shut up Happy! You too Gray!" I shouted and then looked down at Natsu who's biting the leash. "Come on Natsu" I said and he let go of the leash as I led him out the door.

Surprisingly Natsu was very obedient on the walk to the guild. He walked a little ahead of me without pulling on the leash. I expected him to be dragging me down the street. As we arrived in front of the guild, my expectation appeared as Natsu dragged me to the guild doors. 'At least he didn't drag me the whole way from my apartment' I thought with a sigh.

He stopped just before he hit the doors and leaned on them with his front paws while looking up at me, signalling for me to open the door. As soon as I opened the door, Natsu happily ran in only to stop and crouch down, trembling, with his ears pinned back and his tail between his legs. Right in front of him was an angry Gramps. "Natsu" he said sternly and then Natsu ran behind my legs. He peeked out from my legs like a scaredy cat.

"Gramps, as he is my responsibility, I'm sorry for what Natsu did in your office and I'll make sure he doesn't do it again" I said. "Hm, see that you do" Gramps replied and walked over to the bar. "Looks like Ash-for-Brains lives for another day" Gray commented as he walked passed me. Natsu growled at him and chased after him barking, dragging him with me. "Natsu heel!" I said trying to rein in this crazy puppy. He listened and stopped before running to my side with his tail wagging.

"Wow Lu. You have really tamed Natsu" Levy said as her, Mira and Lisanna came over. "For some reason he listens to me" I replied. "Maybe it has something to do with the spell?" Mira questioned, "maybe" I replied. "Do you mind if I give him a cuddle Lucy? He looks so fluffy" Lisanna asked. "Go ahead" I replied and she scooped Natsu up in her arms.

I felt someone looking over my shoulder and turned to see Erza right beside my face. "Ah Erza!" I exclaimed at how close she was and jumped a bit away from her before noticing she was staring at Natsu with a small blush on her cheeks. "If you want to cuddle him too Erza, go ahead" I said and she happily obliged. Poor Natsu was being cuddled by most of the girls in the guild. Eventually, he struggled his way out of their hands and jumped on my leg. I guessed he wanted me to pick him up so I did. Then he turned towards the girls barking and growling.

"I'm guessing he has had enough of being passed around" I said to the girls. "Yet he's ok with you holding him Lu?" Levy said with her eyebrow raised like she was suggesting something. "Yeah Lucy, is there something you're not telling us?" Cana asked suggestively and I knew they were talking about it being love related. "I don't know what you're talking about" I nervously replied hoping they would drop the subject.

"Come on Lucy, you can tell us" Lisanna said and I felt everyone's expecting stares. "Well, of course I love Natsu" I muttered quietly and then I remembered Natsu was in my arms. I really hope he didn't hear that or won't remember what I said when he turns back to normal. Maybe he might be too dense and think I love him as a friend. Oh who am I kidding? I'm doomed!

Suddenly Natsu lifted himself up on my chest and licked my cheek. I blushed as the girls squealed at the cute moment in front of them. All of a sudden, Erza clapped her hands. "Ok, lets stop embarrassing poor Lucy here" she said and then she winked at me. I mouthed 'thank you' back to her. "I'll start planning the wedding!" Mira said excitedly before running off to the bar. "Let me help" the other girls said and followed after her.

"Oh no" I muttered feeling tears about to fall. What am I going to do?! "Hey Lucy, are you alright?" someone asked behind me and I turned to see it was Gray. "No" I honestly replied, "lets go somewhere more private" he said and dragged me to Gramps' office. Before he closed the door, he took Natsu out of my arms. "You wait outside" he said as he placed Natsu on the ground outside Gramps' office before shutting the door on him. I heard Natsu whining and barking on the other side of the door.

"Now, sit down and tell me why you're crying" he said as he leaned his back on the wall. I didn't realise I was crying until he mentioned it. I sat down on Gramps' seat and started to explain. "Honestly, I'm embarrassed and scared" I replied, "scared? Scared of what?" he asked. "Scared that my friendship with Natsu will be ruined because I confessed to him. I mean what if he doesn't feel the same about me and it becomes awkward on missions that we eventually drift apart? It would break my heart if that happened" I replied, looking down at the ground. "To be honest, I don't think you need to worry about that" he said quietly. "Huh?" I uttered as I lifted my head up to look at him. "I mean, your bond is strong so I'm sure you and Natsu will sort things out when he turns back to normal" he replied.

"Besides, his memory is terrible. If he can't remember something, he asks me to remember for him. Like what the hell man, I know you're stupid but not that stupid" he ranted and I giggled. That sounds like something Natsu would do. "There's that smile" he smiled and I smiled back. My friends always know how to cheer me up. I have amazing friends.

A suddenly loud bark reminded us of the little puppy waiting outside the office. "You better go to him before he ruins Gramps' door" Gray said, "yeah I should" I replied as I got out of my seat and ran to the door. As soon as I opened the door, Natsu ran inside and stood in front of me while barking at Gray. "Looks like you've got yourself a little pink guard dog Lucy" Gray teased before heading out the door. "Thanks Gray" I said, "anytime Lucy" he waved before leaving the room. I smiled as I scooped up Natsu in my arms.

Gray's right, I shouldn't worry about my confession right now. I'll confess to Natsu again when he's back to normal and hopefully everything will turn out alright with whatever his answer is.
