Chapter 11 - Gray's Going Crazy

"Lucy help!" I heard Gray exclaim behind me as I was happily sipping my strawberry milkshake at the bar. I turned around to see Gray running around the guild with a pink puppy nipping at his heels. "I thought you liked fighting with Natsu?" I said as I watch them running around. "Not when he has sharp canine teeth ow!" Gray replied as Natsu nipped at his ankle again.

"Natsu come here" I called out. Natsu stopped and ran to me. I picked him up before he decides to continue going after Gray. "Thanks Lucy" Gray said, coming over to sit on the seat beside me. Suddenly I felt Natsu tug on my hair with his teeth. "Ow Natsu" I said as I pulled my hair from his mouth. Since he couldn't reach on my hair anymore, he began bitting his paw. "How sad. Flame Brain's resorting to cannibalism" Gray joked. I wondered why Natsu was acting strange and then a thought popped into my head. "Maybe he's bored?" I said my thought out loud. "Bored?" Gray questioned, "I remember reading somewhere that puppies chew more when they're bored" I replied.

"Wait a minute, are you trying to tell me he was trying to make me a human chew toy?!" he shouted. "Ah, probably-" I got interrupted when Gray slammed his fist onto the bar counter. "I wish I could punch him" he said as he glared at Natsu. "Did he just poke his tongue out at me?!" he exclaimed. I looked down but Natsu wasn't poking his tongue and then he looked up at me innocently. "That's it!" Gray shouted as he tried to snatch Natsu out of my arms but Natsu quickly jumped out of my arms before Gray could grab him. As they ran around the guild, Gray kept knocking over the tables and chairs as Natsu ran underneath everything to get away from him.

"Enough!" Erza shouted since they were making a mess of the guild hall. Both of them froze and then Natsu took the chance to run away from Gray. He ran straight to me and hid behind my legs. I looked back up to see Gray glaring at Natsu and then his expression changed to a scowl. Looking down at Natsu again and saw he wasn't doing anything. 'Gray's going crazy' I thought.

"I want you to clean up the mess you've made" Erza said to Gray. "But Natsu started it" Gray complained, pointing an accusing finger at the puppy by my feet. "A puppy can't knock over furniture Gray" she replied before walking over to us. She kneeled down and scratched Natsu's back. Natsu wagged his tail and rolled onto his back letting her scratch his belly. "You're too cute to make a mess aren't ya Natsu" she said. I saw Gray's jaw drop in utter shock. Natsu bark angrily at what she said before standing back up on his four paws and moved to stand beside me.

Suddenly I thought of a game we could play with Natsu. "Hey Erza, I was thinking of taking Natsu to the park to play fetch, do you want to come with us?" I asked. "I would love to come" she replied as she stood up. "Can I come too?" Gray asked, Natsu barked at him as he came over. "Have you finished cleaning the guild?" Erza asked and we saw the whole guild was back the way it was. "Yep so lets go" he said with a suspicious smirk on his face as he walked towards the guild doors. I attached Natsu to his leash before calling out to Happy. "Are you coming Happy?" I asked, "I'm gonna stay here with Carla and Lily" he called back. "Ok" I replied and walked out of the guild with Natsu and Erza.

When we got to Magnolia Southgate Park, I unclipped Natsu from his leash and pulled out the ball we stopped by my apartment for. "Fetch Natsu" I said as I threw the ball across the park. Natsu quickly ran after it and grabbed it in his mouth. "Bring it back" I encouraged him and he happily ran back with the ball in his mouth. I held my hand out and he put the ball in my hand before taking a few steps back, waiting for me to throw it again.

I threw it one more time and when Natsu put it back in my hand, I held the ball out to Erza. "Want to have a go?" I offered, "gladly" she replied as she took the ball from me. My jaw dropped when Erza accidentally threw the ball out of the park and down the street. Natsu didn't run after it and whined as he looked back at me. "You don't have to run after it little guy" I said. Erza looked sad, "I'm sorry everyone, I'll go get it" she said and went to find the ball. "You don't have to Erza" I said but she was already out of earshot.

"So, what should we do until Erza gets back?" I turned to asked Gray. "Well, we can continue playing fetch" he replied with a suspicious smirk. "How can we play when we don't have a ball?" I questioned and then he suddenly threw me over his shoulder. "What the hell are you doing?!" I exclaimed, hitting his shirtless back. Juvia will definitely kill me if she saw how Gray is holding me. "We're playing fetch what else. Fetch Natsu!" he smirked before running off with me. 'What the hell is this stripper thinking?!' I thought and saw Natsu running after us, barking.

He ran while carrying me all the way to my apartment with Natsu close behind barking at him the whole way. As we got inside my apartment, Gray stopped and Natsu bit his pants leg. Natsu aggressively tugged on Gray's pants and growled but Gray didn't put me down. "Put me down Gray" I said, struggling but he tightened his grasp around my waist. "Not until he apologises for earlier" he replied. "What are you talking about?" I asked confused. "He knows what I'm talking about" he replied. Natsu's small whine attracted my attention to him. He repeatedly tapped his front paws impatiently and whined like he was begging Gray to put me down. Since Gray wasn't putting me down, Natsu laid down with his head in between his paws and his ears folded back. He whined as he looked up at Gray apologetically. With a proud smirk, Gray finally put me down.

I gave him one last hit to his chest. "Never do that again" I said with a light glare before scooping Natsu in my arms. "He's a big meanie, isn't he?" I playfully asked Natsu and he licked the tip of my nose. "Awe you're so cute Natsu!" I said before cuddling him to my chest. He barked angrily, "sorry I mean handsome" I laughed when he looked happier with my correction.
