WHEN LORENZO FINALLY found the courage to return to his apartment that night, he had expected to be yelled at by Ryan who he had left without saying a word to. He knew for a fact that his friend would be angry, especially since his phone wasn't with him but he really needed that alone time to figure out what he had to do next.
None of them would understand since no one knew of his special situation. Only God could help and while he knew God wouldn't actually do anything, he knew He had helped him find what he thought he had lost; his purpose.
On his way back, he had mentally prepared himself for everything that might happen or at least, he thought so. Because when he opened the door, it wasn't Ryan that greeted him.
It was Gia.
His girlfriend stood in the middle of his living room, her hair a mess as it was falling from the ponytail, she had put them on earlier while her whole body shook anxiously. With her phone pressed against her right ear and her other hand clutching his, she turned around to face him as she heard the door open and almost screamed when she saw him.
Before he could even blink, she had ended the call, thrown both phones on the couch and ran to him with her arms open wide for a hug. Her whole body enveloped his as she wrapped herself around him, her legs tight on his waist and her face buried in his neck as she kept murmured nonsense.
Finally, when Lorenzo snapped back to reality, he hugged her back with a little uncertainty. He had a feeling that the moment he touched her, she would lash out on him and start calling him names while making him go down on his knees and beg for forgiveness. Which he knew he would do without a second thought but still, he was too tired for that.
Instead, though, Gia brought him closer and that's when he felt something wet falling on his neck. He shuddered and at first had no idea what the hell that was but when he finally realised it, he moved forward and sat on the couch (he was pretty sure he sat on his phone too but whatever, his girl was crying and he had to make sure she was okay).
"Gia? Baby, hey, hey, what's wrong?" He pushed her face away from his neck and grabbed it in his hands to get a better look at her. That seemed to set her off because, in an instant, she was untangling herself from him. She pushed him back as she stood up and then pointed a very much manicured finger at him.
"What's wrong? What's wrong?" She almost growled as she started pacing in front of him, "You have the audacity to ask me what the fucking hell is wrong?".
Before he could utter a word, she continued, not waiting for an answer, "Where the hell have you been? How could you leave like that? Do you know how anxious and scared I was when I got a call from Ryan saying that you left the house in a hurry without saying anything and you looked pissed?"
"Ryan's exaggerating..." he mumbled which seemed to anger her even more.
Gia stopped in front of him, "Oh I know that. Which was why I told him that you probably wanted to go for a walk and would be back soon. Big deal, you're an adult and you can do anything you fucking want. That was eight fucking hours ago, Adam!"
