LORENZO HAD THOUGHT that getting out of that god awful hospital would be the best thing to happen to him in those past few days but he had completely forgotten that his apartment – Adam's house, to be precise – was destroyed and it would take lots of money to actually repair it, something he didn't have the luxury of owning.

He didn't have anywhere to go; he didn't have clothes or anything at all in that matter. Even the clothes he was wearing at that moment weren't his. Ryan had lent him a pair of black sweatpants and a white graphic long-sleeved T-shirt that was way too tight on him but he didn't comment on it knowing he didn't have much to choose from.

His friends had been kind enough to go to his apartment to see if they could find anything that escaped the fire and all they did find were a couple of his shirts and the jacket he had bought with Gia. But all of them smelt like smoke and Amalia, being the sweetheart, she was, took it upon herself to wash them again and again till the smell was completely gone.

He felt thankful to have such friends but his heart broke each time he thought about what he would soon have to do. It was like it was breaking inch by inch every time they did something good to him – which was almost every second of the day. He loved them all, there was no denying that, but it hurt so much, he almost didn't want to do it. Though, he knew he would have to.

It had been decided – without his knowledge, may he add – that Lorenzo would be living with Gia till he can stand back on his feet. He found that a little bit weird because he knew that Ryan and Amalia had an extra bedroom for him to sleep in whereas Gia didn't. But then, after seeing how worried his girlfriend was, he realised that she didn't want him to leave her sight. She had been that scared.

They shared her bedroom; it wasn't like his stuff was taking lots of space anyway. Seeing Lilianna every day had been weird, especially when she would cringe every time, he would mention either of his friends. He didn't know what to feel about her, he didn't quite like her because of how she upset his friends and almost broke off their engagement – twice. But he also didn't want to hate her because his friends hated her. He wanted to form his own opinion about her.

After three days of Gia following his every move, only leaving him alone to go to the bathroom, he grew a little tired of her antics and sent her to work. He was off work for about two weeks, doctor's orders, since it wasn't like he had inhaled too much smoke. His problem had been oxygen shortage and that's why he had been able to leave the hospital so soon. Had he inhaled more smoke; he would have burnt his lungs!

So, when Gia finally left the house, Lorenzo knew that this was his chance to escape. Gia didn't trust him enough to let him be on his own and that was why Liliana had stayed back – unfortunately for him, she had the night shift that day. But that didn't stop him from forming a new plan to get rid of her first and then, go investigate to see if his suspicions were right.

He sat in the living room, the TV playing an old movie he had never seen before. Liliana said that it was a classic, Police Academy was its title. Even though it was a comedy, Lorenzo couldn't find it in himself to laugh. His head was aching from actually thinking too much since he spent all morning thinking about different scenarios and plans. He had three backup plans! It was insane!
