*America*
"This shouldn't be a good idea at all. He's only nineteen!" My father said, slamming his hand on the table, which made us jump a little by the sudden shock. "He can't risk his life out there at such a young age!"
It turns out my father knew about UN's 'secret' agency, and only him, maman, and Aunt Austria knew about this.
Why didn't they tell us?
The letter that UN asked me to give to my father was about me joining the agency.
"Amérique, why would you do this?" My mother held my hands softly, with a worried and sad expression.
"Maman, I'm sorry." I said, placing her hands inside mine.
"UN may be careless, but she can keep a promise." My father closes the letter and puts the knife in his pocket. "But if you try to re-convince her to change her mind about something, you would end up failing."
Aunt Austria nods in agreement.
"America, this will be risky, but you have to do whatever UN says under no circumstances." My dad says, looking at me. "Why did you even agree to the offer, anyway?"
"Actually, at first, he didn't accept the offer to work in the agency," Aunt Austria spoke up for me, "but after hearing the possibilities and everything, he decided to give it a try."
"Maman, dad, I'm sorry, but I need answers." I spoke up. "This will help me get through it."
"If you needed answers, you could've just come to us for it." My dad said.
Aunt Austria sighed and whispered something to my dad.
"Britain, yes, we know it's risky, but you have to let him go. He's too young for this, yes, we know, but you have to give it a try. He's not your average little America anymore, he's just now a teen who will be entering the stage of adulthood in just a few years."
"I think you and France are being a little too overprotective. Plus, most of the agents there are still as young as Ame."
She stopped whispering and my dad turned to look at her. He sighed.
He motioned for maman to come with him upstairs, and then I heard chatting."Auntie Austria, what are mommy and dad doing upstairs?" Kiwi asks, tugging on Aunt Austria's cardigan.
She knelt down and patted Kiwi's head. "I don't know what they're doing upstairs, but I think they're talking."
"Hey Canada, do you want to play with my pet snake?" Australia asks, holding up his pet snake, Nauru. Canada freaked out and ran behind me.
I laughed."It's just a snake, Nada. Didn't you used to play with them back then?" I asked, grinning.
...
Maman and dad went down the stairs after a while.
They approached us and my mother placed her hands on my shoulders worriedly."Promise me not to die, okay?" She says, tears in her eyes. I hugged her, knowing I might not be able to see them after a while.
"I won't." I said.
...
"I'll call you, okay?" I said as I waved my family goodbye.
The door was shut and me and Aunt Austria started walking.
"So...what now?" I asked, putting my hands in my pockets."Okay, here are a few things that you need to know." She said, pulling out her phone to find an Uber.
"Firstly, call me Austria. In the agency, we call people by their first names." Aunt Austria says.
