Netherlands was suddenly feeling uneasy.
Yeah, he was a double agent for sure, no one but him and everyone else from UI knew that.
It was his choice to make that mistake, right?
But when Germany asked him out on a date-
Don't worry, I'm kidding. I just wanna try to lighten up the mood.
Anyway, but when Germany asked him if he'd like to come with him and the others for the New Year's celebration, that's when the uneasy feeling came.
The man in front of him looked like he was mentally breaking down.
He looked stressed and restrained. Like he didn't get any sleep last night.
Was something wrong? Does he know something Netherlands doesn't?
"Yo, Ger, you okay?" He puts a hand on Germany's shoulder. "You actually look like you're going to faint."
"Yeah, I'm fine." Germany replies, looking down. "I think." He then mutters.
"Come in." Netherlands said as he opened the door, gesturing for Germany to come in.
...
"Is there something wrong?" Netherlands asks.
".......I don't know." Germany says, pausing. He had been deep in thought.
"Neth, honestly, I'm scared." He finally says, hiding his face in his hands.
Not from embarrassment; not from shame; but from fear.
"I know I shouldn't be; I have to stay as a role model to my younger teammates."
"I'm scared. I don't remember the last time I was." Germany admitted.
__________________"Here, please, take him!" Third Reich handed the seven-year old child to the men outside the window on a ladder.
"Papa?" Germany took a hand out, trying to reach out to his father, the harsh fire reflecting in his eyes.
There was a huge thud behind the man, he looked behind him to see that the walls had crumbled down to block the door just a few feet away from him.
"I'll be alright, son." A sad smile was left on the father's face, looking at the child as the fire started growing harsher, devouring him up.
"PAPA!" The child screamed out.
...
"Oh no."
"What is it?"
"The poor child. His father....." The lady in a pastel yellow dress said, as she began to read the text message she got. "'We couldn't find the body. We could only assume he's dead.'"
"Oh my.....do you think we should put him up for adoption?" The lady in a red turtleneck gasped, feeling sorry for the child.
"How are we going to tell the poor child?"
__________________Germany started to tear up. That was odd; he thought he had already moved on.
Great, now he's being a weak person in front of his own friend. His own friend.
Or so he thought.
Netherlands thought it was normal for everyone.
It was only slightly surprising, though; Germany had always kept his guard up for himself and for everyone else.
"I feel childish. I feel weak. I feel so worthless."
He kept muttering as he felt his world getting darker.
"Come here." Netherlands sighed as he opened his arms, Germany leaning into his chest.
"It's okay to feel childish." Netherlands wrapped his arms around the German, who was breaking down so hard, he was losing control of himself. "It's okay to feel weak. You're human too, you know. It's not like you have a perfect life, we know that."
"But it's never okay to feel worthless of yourself. You are always worth something of your own." He lowered his voice down to a whisper as he held him close.
"It's always alright to put your guard down."
Netherlands knew he would be losing Germany soon.
Just soon.
He would find out the truth.
