Not knowing what the future holds scares me most, but for me realizing what lies ahead is even more frightening. I would give all I have to believe that my fate is not yet sealed, but as I travel this road I have learned that much of what I see must come to pass.

Dragons airborne, the crew of the Sea Dragon had a wider leeway to move around the deck without fear of being clawed or snapped at. Anchored at the Fimmirran Reef, preparations for the invasion were well underway.

"Careful with those!" Cabbat shouted into the wind and across the cooling waters of autumn.

Working together in pairs, the dragons were each hauling smaller boats into the air and over the reef. The landing craft, each crammed with two dozen soldiers, were equipped with their own miniature versions of the boiler and paddlewheel design that powered the larger Dragon Ships.

However, the winged monsters showed about as much care with the task as an avalanche careening down a mountainside, often depositing the boats into the sea from a height of ten feet or more. With each jolt-filled landing upon the water, the dwarf cringed. Mechanics rattled and soldiers found themselves hurled overboard.

While Cabbat continued barking, Cassandra fixated on the mountains outlined on the horizon. She'd sent one rider ahead to circle her uncle's castle and the capitol. Dropped was a package containing her request for his immediate, total, and unconditional surrender. All her uncle had to do was to fly a white flag atop the tallest tower to signify his acceptance of her terms.

No such capitulation had come. Now she prepared to crush him.

"No!" The dwarf's screams caused her to glance to her left and to where a capsized landing craft bobbed in the water. Soldiers were floundering and trying to stay afloat, clinging to the boat for dear life.

The general paced over to the opposite and starboard rail. "Captain Bennat!" A man seated aback one of the red dragons, hovering in the air, turned to regard her. "Inform your men that if they damage any more of those boats, I'll have their heads!"
