Next day
I walk down the stairs to room with the magic door. Jenkins looks up as I walk in. "Is everything okay?" He asks. I give a confused look. "Everything is fine. Why?" I ask. He looks back down and keeps working on where he is working on. "You was crying out several times during the night. I was going to check on you but the door was locked." He says. I scratch my head as I walk over. "Oh. It is nothing. I'm fine." I say. "Nightmares say otherwise." He says. I sigh and look down. "Are the others coming in today?" I ask. "Not for a few hours." He says. I nod. "Can I ask a favor?" I ask. He looks up. "What is that?" He asks. "I need to get it fixed where I'm not expected at appointments any longer." I say. He raises an eyebrow. "What are the appointments for?" He asks. I keep my head down. "I've been having to be to different doctors because years ago when I was a small kid I went through something that tromatized me." I say. He walks to me. "I will help you if you think it is best." He says. I look up and nod. "It is best. I had appointments everyday all day. If I was to miss them then they'd end up reporting me missing or something." I say. He nods and smiles. "Well let's go." He says. I smile and thank him.
Final doctor
So far I have successfully canceled every appointment I've had. I have just one left. We are walking in to the waiting room now actually. As we walk in the doctor is walking out. "Ah Estelle I was just about to call you." He says. He smiles and looks at Jenkins. "New company?" He asks. "Yes." I say. "Well come on back." He says. He leads us to his office and tells us to have a seat. "Dr. Goodman I have already spoke to my other doctors and I think it is best if I was to stop my appointments. I have already got all my appointments ended with other doctors. I just am tired of appointment after appointment. I am going to be staying with him for now on and he will provide for me and everything." I say. He sighs and nods. "I knew this day would come. I really hate to see you go but if you think it would be best then okay. You will have to stay on the medications you are currently taking. If you end up having any problems you come to me okay. You don't have to worry about anything." He says. I smile. "Thank you Dr." I say. He comes to me and hugs me. "Be careful out there." He says. I nod and hug him back. "I will." I say. He turns to Jenkins. "You have a wonderful granddaughter. Take good care of her. If you have any questions or if she has any problems and refuses to say anything just contact me." He says and hands him a card. "I will. Thank you." He says. We leave and Jenkins seems shocked. "That's the first time I've been called a grandfather." He says. I look down. "I'm sorry he did that." I say. He laughs. "No bug deal." He says. We go to a door and end up in the Library. As we walk through Flynn looks up. "Ah there you are Jenkins." He says. "Mr. Carsen." He says. "I got to thinking there is still a lot of missing artifacts." He says. Jenkins sighs. "And you want to go and find them." He says. "Correct. It would be best for the Annex if I do. If they was to be found by Apex or someone like that then the world could be destroyed." He says. Jenkins walks to a desk. "Don't get yourself killed Mr. Carsen." He says. "Right. I will not get killed. Although I may get into quite a lot of trouble." He says. "Just go." Jenkins says. He quickly fires up the door and leaves. Jenkins sit and shakes his head. It isn't long till the others show up. "Good afternoon everyone." Jenkins says. "Hello!" Cassandra cheerfully says. "Cassandra you are awfully cheerful." He says. "Yes well who wouldn't be when they have so much to be cheerful about." She says. "And what is that?" Ezekiel asks. "Well we have a new team member for one. Two there is a thing called coffe." She says. I smile at that. "Oh great. Haven't we told you no coffee? You always go crazy." Stone says. She cheerfully claps and jumps around. "Cassandra calm down." Jenkins says. She makes a pouty face at him. Suddenly a book opens and starts flipping through pages. When it stops we gonover. It is saying something about the Ring Of Gyges. My eyes widen in shock. "Looks like we are being sent to Tennessee." Stone says. "What is this about though? What is the Ring Of Gyges?" Ezekiel asks. Jenkins looks for a book. "The Ring Of Gyges is a ring from Greek Mythology. It gives the the who wears it the ability to be invisible. It has been lost for ages and unable to be found. Seems someone has found it and is using it to get away with crimes." I say. They all turn to me. "How do you know that?" Stone asks. I rub my head. "I have a Doctorate's degree in Greek Mythology. I've studied everything about Greek Mythology since I was younger." I say. They seem impressed. "How do you stop someone using the ring?" Ezekiel asks. "There wasn't any stories on how to win against someone with the ring. Although there a weakness." I say. "That is?" Jenkins asks. "The one who wears the ring is not capable of resisting the urge to harm others. They pray on those they see as weaker then them." I say. Stone shakes his head. "And that is a weakness how?" He asks. "Because we can narrow down those who look to be about the same size and strength as the victims so far. That way we can see just who the next targets would be." Cassandra says. She swipes through the air as she talks. "Correct. Given that most victims have been female and younger ages I'd say the one who wears the ring is male. That or a female who is larger I statue." I say. "No wonder the Library chose you." Ezekiel says. "Well let's go." Eve says. Jenkins gets the door ready. "Wait where is Flynn?" Eve asks. "Ah he went to retrieve some artifacts." Jenkins answers. She sighs and goes to the door. "Estelle you coming?" She asks. I shake my head. "Yes you are." Jenkins says. I look at him shocked. "Wait what?" I ask. He nods. "You will be a great help." He says. I groan. "Okay." I say. I go with them and we go through the door. As we get through I see a pretty park. "Really? He opened a door in a portable bathroom again!" Ezekiel whines. I shake my head. "Oh stop whining." Stone says. Something seems off about this place. Screams fill the air and my heart jerks to the left. A girl comes running but something knocks her against a tree. She falls and looks to be badly hurt. We run over and Eve kneels down. I kneel as well and she looks up scared and in pain. "It is okay." Eve says. "What was that?" Stone asks. I shake my head. "Let's just help her to the hospital. She needs medical treatment." I say. She shakes her head and tries to get away from us. "L. Leave me be!" She pleads. I sigh. "It is okay. I know you have been attacked and are scared but we will help you. You don't have to be scared anymore." I say. "He will return." She says. "Who will?" Eve asks. "The invisible Man. He has killed several. I'm next!" She says. I look at Eve then the girl. "We can protect you. You don't have to be scared. Right Eve?" I ask. "Correct. We will keep you safe." She says. The girl gives in and nods. "Okay." She says. She goes to get but cries out and falls holding her side. I instantly know why. "She has a broken rib. Maybe two." I say. "How do you know?" Eve asks. "It doesn't matter. We have to be careful or it could puncher something and hurt her worse." I say. She nods and we carefully help her up. We walk with her between us and I feel her leaning more on me than Eve. As we walk we take it slow and easy. After about ten minutes we get to the hospital and the nurses get a bed. They go to take her away but she grabs my arm. "Don't leave me!" She pleads. I look at the nurses. "You can't go back with her." One says. I look at her and grab her hand. "Don't worry okay. Everything will be okay and I'll be out here waiting." I say. She nods slightly and let's me go. They take her awya and I watch. Now I know how it feels to have someone not want to be taken away but have to let them. I remember when it was me being taken to the emergency room after being found. I didn't want the one to find me to leave. They was the only one who I trusted. "Estelle?" Eve asks. I turn. "Yes?" I ask. She looks worried. "Is everything okay?" She asks. I nod. "Yes. I just feel bad for her. No one should be terrified like she is and think they are about to die." I say. "I agree." Cassandra says. "Well we need to get things figured out. Whoever attacked her must be the one who wears the ring." Stone says. I nod. "I agree." I say. "Estelle, Cassandra stay here until the woman is able to speak to you." Eve says. "Yes ma'am!" Cassandra says. "Ezekiel, Stone we will go back to the park and look around." Eve says. "Got it." The guys say. The three leave and Cassandra and I go to the waiting room. We sit here and I lean my head backwards. To my surprise Cassandra seems used to sitting in a waiting room. "Cassandra." I say. "Yes?" She asks. "Why do you seem used to this? Does the team get hurt a lot or something?" I ask. She sighs. "No they don't. Not where they have to be here. It is me actually. I've spent my life in and out of the hospital because of a tumor on my brain." She tells me. My eyes grow wide in shock. "Wait what?" I ask. She nods. "About half a year ago we was on a job and I passed out. I had to have surgery to get it removed. Luckily I didn't lose any memories or anything. It was a complete success." She says. She smiles at me as she looks at me. "I had no idea. I'm sorry." I say. She smiles brightly. "Nothing to be sorry about!" She cheerfully says. I look at her and relax some. I've never been around people as laid back but also aware of their surroundings as these people are. "What is wrong?" She asks. I shake my head. "Nothing. Just thinking about how you all are different than anyone I've been around." I say. She looks happy and also worried. "You seem distracted and distant." She says. I look away and try to push the thoughts from my head. "It is nothing. Honestly." I say. She doesn't push any further and lays a hand on my shoulder. "Well I'm here if you need to talk." She says. "Thank you." I say. She nods and smiles. I can't help but smile back at her. She is going to be a great friend.
