Someone shakes me and calls my name. I open my eyes as I sit up to fast. I am all sweaty and can barely breathe. "Estelle!" Cassandra asks. I look at her to see fear and worry in her eyes. "Cassandra?" I ask confused. I rub my head not understanding why she is here. "You was screaming. What's wrong?" She asks. I look away and rub my head. "Everything is fine." I say. She grabs my arm and rubs her thumb in circles. "You can tell me." She says. I shake my head and grab my phone. "No disrespect but I can't tell anyone." I say. She moves closer on the bed and rubs my back. "Estelle what is it? You don't have to be afraid to tell me. I'm here for you okay." She says. I look back at her to see a pained and worried look. She looks like she is truly worried. I sigh and drop my head. "You must swear to not say a word to anyone or see me differently." I say. "I promise." She says. I allow myself to relax and lean forward some. I tell her everything I told Jenkins just the other day. She hugs me tightly once I finish telling her everything. "I'm so sorry!" She sadly says. I sit here hugging her back and trying to relax. "I wish I could do something to help you. No one should have to relive that over and over." She sadly says. I rest my head on her shoulder and slowly start to calm my emotions. "I told Jenkins last night. I didn't want to tell anyone but I gave in and told him. I was scared to do so. I was scared he would end up judging me and kick me out but he didn't. He said he would stand by my side and help me all he could. I was scared to tell you as well. I didn't want to be seen as a weakling and to be an outcast." I say. She tightens her arms around me. "I'd never do that. Never in my life would I be that way. You are my friend and friends stick together no matter what." She says. I close my eyes and end up relaxing. "Thank you Cassandra. You are the first friend I've ever had." I say. I feel her relax and she just sits here holding me. We sit here for a while just relaxing and letting my emotions calm down. "Cassandra." I say. "Yes?" She asks. "Thank you for being a great friend and standing by me." I say. "Always." She says. I can't help but smile as she says that. "Because of you going through all that, that is how you knew that woman's injuries instantly." She says. I nod slightly. "Yes. I've had the same injuries. It isn't fun to go through. It hurts and takes a while to get over." I say. She nods. "I bet so." She says. I am fully called down now and feel better actually. "Well we should get some rest okay." She says. I nod and she gets up. I grab her arm and she looks confused. "Can you stay till I fall asleep? They way I'm not alone." I say. She nods and sits back down. "Of course." She says as she does. I lay down and she covers me up. "Thank you Cassandra." I say. She pats my back. "Anything for a friend." She says. I find myself falling asleep almost instantly.
Noon of last day on Mount Crescent
Every night Cassandra stays by my side and comforts me when I wake up from nightmares. She stays with me while I fall back asleep as well. She has been a great friend and has helped me a lot. The past three and a half days has been great. We are currently hiking through the forest laughing and having a good time. We normally hike around eleven to one each day. I kind of wish we could do this everyday. It is so peaceful and happy. It's like there isn't anything to worry about at all. I've never been as happy has I have while here. Something causes me to try up and draws me from my thoughts. Cassandra catches me and helps me steady myself. We both laugh and I know my face is red. "Are you okay?" She asks. I nod. "Yes. I'm okay." I say. She shakes her head. "Wasn't paying attention?" She asks. "No I wasn't." I say. She laughs at me some. I push her slightly. "Oh shush!" I say laughing myself. "Cassandra?" A voice asks. We look up to see a woman walking this way. "Estrella!" Cassandra says shocked. The woman runs over and hugs her. Cassandra hugs back and I am confused and a little unsure of this women. "How are you here?" Cassandra asks. "Well using what my brother found out we sometimes leave the resort but only for a day or two. We make sure to have somw of the water with us so nothing happens." She answers. I am confused by this. "Water? What could water do?" I ask. She turns to me. "It helps us from becoming dust in the sun." She says. A look of pure confusion fills my face. "Remember how I told you me and the guys went on a job and I passed out. Well this is Estrella. She owned the resort we was sent to investigate. Her along with several workers are vampires." Cassandra says. My eyes grow wide in shock by that. "What? Vampires don't exist!" I say. "We don't allow others to know we exist. The people who come to our resort don't even know." She says. I rub my head and shake it trying to clear it. "This is a lot to take in." I say. Cassandra lays a hand on my shoulder. "We were in shock when we found out as well. Well I was. The two guys wanted to go nuts and kill everyone!" She says. I nod my head. "By what I know about them it makes sense." I say. "Cassandra who is this?" Estrella asks. Cassandra claps her hands. "Oh yeah!" She cheerfully says. I look at her with a raised eyebrow. "Estrella meet my newest friend Estelle. She is a new Librarian as of a few days ago." She says. Estrella nods and holds her hand out. "Nice to meet you." She says. I shake her hand. "You as well." I say. She studies me. "Something about you is different. You have a similar look as Cassandra did when we first met." She says. I am confused and look at her. "Estelle has had a bad past. She isn't sick like I was." She tells her. She nods. "Cassandra can we catch up?" She asks. She smiles. "Of course. That is if you don't mind Estelle joining us." She says. "Not at all. The resort is only a ten minute walk that way. Come on." She says. We follow her and she leads us through the trees. It isn't long till we get to a beautiful place. My eyes grow wide in amazement. "Wow! It is beautiful here." I say. "We try to keep it looking wonderful. That way the ones who come here live a peaceful and relaxing life while they still have time." Estrella says. I nod and she leads us to a building. A man walks over. "Estrella there you are!" He says. "Oscar will you show Miss Estelle around while I speak with Cassandra?" She asks. He nods. "Of course." He says dipping his head. He holds a hand out. "If you will, follow me young miss." He says. I stand by Cassandra not trusting him. "Don't worry nothing will happen while you are here. You are perfectly safe. The ones who caused trouble before where killed by the two guys who was with Cassandra last time." Estrella says. I look at Cassandra and she nods. "It will be okay. If you need anything I won't be far." She says. I nod. "Okay." I say. I hesitate but take the man's hand. He gently holds it and leads me away. He starts telling about this place and everything. I don't listen. That well as I keep alert and aware of everything around me. Everyone seems calm and relaxed here. Not a single person is hostile or anything. After a while the man has lead me around the whole place and back to where we started. I look around for Cassandra and find her standing next ti the water with Estrella. I head that way but freeze when Estrella pulls her close and kisses her. My eyes are wide seeing that and Cassandra ends up pushing her away. "Cassandra?" I hear Estrella asks confused. Cassandra looks down. "I don't understand. You was okay when I kissed you after your surgery. What has changed? I thought we had a connection." Estrella asks. "I'm sorry Estrella. Yes I thought we had a connection as well but I've realized it isn't as strong as I believed." She says. Estrella lays her hand on Cassandra's cheek. "You love someone else." She says. Cassandra stays quiet and Estrella sighs. "It is Estelle isn't it? You have fallen for her." She asks. Cassandra lifts her hand and lays it on Estrella's. "You are right. I have fallen for Estelle. I didn't expect it but the job we went of a few days ago and seeing her in the situation she was in made me realize that I was. I was scared she was going to die. I know it will never happen but I can't be with you when my heart loves her." She says. I feel my legs go weak and my heart races. My face is full of shock as I barely stand here. "C. Cassandra!" I say speaking up. The two turn and Cassandra is shocked. "You heard didn't you?" She asks. I nod slightly. She stands there with a look of worry on her face. I try to step forward but my legs won't hold me. Before I can fall Estrella is at my side and catching me. "Easy." She says. She helps me to balance and Cassandra walks over. I look at her and see her face is red. "I. Is it true?" I ask. She nods looking down. "Yes." She says. I'm unable to say anything as I stand here. None of us says a single word. "I know you probably are flipping out and think I'm an idiot." She says. "Not at all." I say. I find myself relaxing and allowing my emotions to fill me. "Really?" Cassandra asks looking up. I nod. "In all honesty I don't mind. No one has cared for me like you have." I say. She smiles and grabs my hand. "So how do you feel?" She asks. I look down as my face turns light pink. "I think she feels the same." Estrella says. I can hear happiness in her voice. "Is that true? Do you feel the same?" Cassandra asks. I nod slightly. "Yes. I think I've fallen for you as well." I say slightly embarrassed. Before I can react Cassandra kisses me. I feel everything float away as she does. I stand here unable to respond. She pulls away and smiles at me. I feel my face heat up more and look away. "Is everything okay?" She asks. I nod. "Y. Yes everything is great." I say. "Are you sure?" She asks. "Y. Yes it is." I say. She lifts my head and I look at her. She looks worried and happy all at once. "What's wrong?" I ask. She looks away. "Sorry if I was to far." She says. I hug her tightly and she ends yp hugging me back. "It is okay Cassandra. You don't have to apologise." I say. She relaxes. "You two will be great together. I'm happy for you." Estrella says. We turn to her. "I'm sorry Estrella. You aren't upset are you?" Cassandra says. She shakss her head. "Not at all." She says. Cassandra hugs her and she hugs back.
