The next morning, Luigi woke up to see Kathryn's face so close to his. He let out a yelp and blushed as red as a beet. Why was she there? Wasn't she supposed to be in his room? Luigi couldn't answer his own question because before he could try to think, Kathryn shifted slightly, letting her face become angled downward. That was more than enough for Luigi to fall under a sort of spell and gently caress Kathryn's left cheek, as that was the side of her head that wasn't on the couch. Kathryn flinched at first, but soon relaxed into Luigi's touch, smiling slightly, even though a frown was upon her brow. Luigi fell more and more into an almost love struck daze by the second, smiling a little bit as he imagined him and Kathryn on a hill, looking out over the horizon as the sun began to set-wait a minute, WHAT!!?
Luigi quickly shook his head and retracted his hand. What was happening to him? What was Kathryn doing? In all honesty, sure, Luigi gets flustered very easily, but why now? And why with this girl? Why? Luigi didn't know, but at this point...he didn't care. Luigi felt happy with her. He didn't care if he was heartbroken. Anytime this girl looked at him, it felt like his heart was put back together. He...loved her. The hero in green put his hand back into its original position. Love at first sight was always a strange and rare, but possible, phenomena that happened in this world, and it seems like that same phenomena has just found its way to the green plumber.
Kathryn began to shift a bit in her sleep, which snapped Luigi out of his current thoughts. Kathryn opened her eyes to find Luigi staring at her, a bright red blush on his face. Kathryn was quick to notice his hand on her cheek, so she gave him a playful smirk and spoke to him.
"Why you touchin' my face?" She asked
Luigi immediately tried to retract his hand, but before he could, Kathryn brought her hand up and held his hand where it was. Her smile was more than enough to let Luigi's fears melt away into a state of bliss. Kathryn was not only physically beautiful, but she was clearly kind and gentle with the fiery soul of a candle. Kathryn blushed a bit and giggled, her light voice echoing off the walls of Luigi's skull. Luigi didn't want to ever leave this moment...
...However, unfortunately for him, it was cut short when he heard what sounded like giggling near the stairs. Luigi looked up to see Mario and Leah snickering at what was he was doing. Luigi quickly sat up, face red with fury and embarrassment. Kathryn sat up as well, looking concerned, before turning around to see Leah and Mario on the verge of laughing.
"H-HEY!" Kathryn yelled, her face turning beet red
That's when they both fell to the floor, laughing like crazy. Kathryn moved over to let Luigi up, which allowed him to pull his brother upstairs for a much needed "talk". Leah, meanwhile, calms down fairly quickly and goes up to Kathryn, beaming with joy. It had been years since they had seen each other. It almost seemed too crazy to be real. Leah ran straight towards Kathryn and, without warning, gave her a massive bear hug. Of course, Kathryn hugged her back. She had seriously missed her sister in arms. Her stories were real, and now it was her life. Kathryn finally knew why Leah was gone for so long. She just couldn't talk several dimensions over. At the very least she had her sis back.
Luigi, meanwhile, had pulled Mario up to his room to "talk", and by "talk", he really meant that he was going to beat Mario senseless for basically barging in like that. When Mario finally managed to stop laughing, he was quickly met with a punch to the jaw, which was sent his way by his brother. After shaking his head to regain his senses, Mario got up and turned to face Luigi, who was more rage-fueled than him.
"What the heck!!" Mario shouted, clearly hurt and confused as he held his now-more-than-likely gonna-be-bruised face
"That is what you get for laughing!" Luigi shot back
Before Mario could speak, his brother ended up bopping him on the forehead.
"And that was for ruining the moment we were having!"
"It's not my fault you make it obvious for yourself!" Mario said in defense
That did it. Luigi lunged himself at his brother, knocking him to the floor and getting him in a chokehold. Mario couldn't cry out for help due to his voice being cut off, but the commotion was more than enough for the ladies in the house to head upstairs.
When they got through the door, Leah ran forward and ended up having to pull Luigi away from Mario so the older twin wouldn't suffocate. Luigi, understandably, struggled against Leah's grip, but the moment he saw Kathryn at the door, he froze, blushing.
When Leah let him go, Luigi went to the door, where Kathryn was standing, and just looked down at her. She was absolutely beautiful. He...
didn't want to look away. Same on Kathryn's end. She didn't realize until seeing the green thunder up close just how adorable he looked. The round nose, the gently combed mustache, but what really got her were his crystal blue eyes. Kathryn just couldn't look away from them, even though she somewhat wanted to scold Mario for laughing.Meanwhile, Leah and Mario were trying to keep themselves from laughing again. Those two made it so obvious. Too obvious.
"Alright, I'll go make breakfast" Leah said with a chuckle
"I'll come two. We can wait until the lovebirds come down from the nest" Mario said jokingly
Before the two could even get a word out, the married couple ran downstairs like two children on Christmas morning. Luigi and Kathryn gave each other a glance and blushed before heading downstairs...
...knowing that they were going to be like that all day.
