A knock at the door startled Frank from his daydreaming. He had spent the morning on his bed looking at old photos of his life back in Jersey.
"Come in," Frank sighed and set his phone down. The beta, Ryan, opened the door and leaned against the door frame.
"Hey Frank. Alpha would like to meet with you at 1pm," Ryan informed Frank with a disinterested tone.
"Why?" Frank asked. "And why does he have to schedule things? Am I really not that important? Just another tick on the agenda for the day." Frank huffed. He was already in a bad mood so he wasn't thinking very rationally at the moment.
"I don't have the time nor the crayons to explain this to you. 1 pm sharp. He doesn't like to be kept waiting. He said it's important," Ryan rolled his eyes and walked out shutting the door.
Frank glared at the door and shook his head. He decided he wasn't going to the meeting. He crawled under the covers of his bed and closed his eyes to take a nap instead.
A few hours go by and Frank still is asleep. After Frank didn't show up at 1pm, Gerard decided to do a bit of paperwork while he waited. By the time 2pm came around he started to worry. He got up and went to look for Frank, eventually finding him asleep in his bedroom. He went across the hall to his room to grab a book, then he returned to Frank's room and sat in the window seat in the corner. He opened his book and began to read while Frank continued to sleep.
Frank eventually woke up around 6pm as the sun was starting to set, casting an amber light across his room. He opened his eyes, sitting up with a yawn and running a hand through his hair.
"Grand rising, Frank," The soft voice came from the corner. Frank jumped a bit, not expecting to see Gerard.
"Edward Cullen much? Geez," Frank huffed, crossing his arms.
"You know. As a werewolf I find that very offensive," Gerard chuckled as he closed the book in his lap. "You didn't show up for the meeting and I got worried. I didn't feel like waking you so I decided to read a book while you slept."
"Why is this meeting so important to you?" Frank groaned. Before Gerard could answer, Frank's phone starts ringing, playing an old misfits song. Frank held up a finger to Gerard and answered his phone.
"Jim's mortuary. You stab em, we slab em. How may I direct your call?" Frank said as he held his phone to his ear.
"Frankieeeee. I'm so glad you answered. I dunno how this timezone shit works" Bert was on the other end giggling.
"Oh hey Bert. Wait. Are you drunk?" Frank frowned as he heard the slurring in his best friend's words.
"Absolutely not," Bert giggled some more. "Okay maybe a little bit. But I have something important to tell you!"
Frank sighed and shook his head. He hated when Bert drank. He used to have a really bad problem and was always a dick when drunk.
"I am in love with you. I should have told you before you left. But I was scared. Frankie. You're the only person I want. You're my other sock," Bert's tone turned whiney as he kept talking.
"I'm your other sock? What the fuck is wrong with you," Frank growled feeling insulted to being compared to something so low. "If that's the best you can come up with then maybe it's a good thing you never told me. Fuck off, Bert. You're drunk and I'm not there to clean up your mess this time. Don't call me again unless you're sober." Frank hung up the phone, tears starting to form in the corners of his eyes. He had completely forgotten about Gerard sitting by the window.
Gerard rose from his seat and walked over to Frank's bed. He gently reached out a hand and tucked a stray lock behind his ear before gently tilting Frank's face up to look at him by the chin.
