"Hey B!" Veronica hugged me as I reached the entrance of the fair.

"Auntie B!" Bianca grinned goofily, reaching her arms out for me to pick her up. I did exactly that and rested her on my hip. Jughead smiled at me lightly, Melanie nowhere to be seen.

"Hey Betty, you feeling better?" Cheryl asked, tickling her daughters foot.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks Cher, for being there for me" I expressed before passing Bianca back over. We all made our way through the stalls, picking up cotton candy and cans of drink.

"Teacups!" Bianca whined, pointing at the children's fair ride.

"Honey, me and mummy are a bit dizzy after the big ride. Maybe later?" Toni suggested and Bianca's face scrunched up.

"Nooo. Now" she complained. Cheryl huffed and looked to Jughead pleadingly. Since when were those two getting along?

"Jug please. She likes you and I'm about to throw up" Cheryl begged.

"Fine. Come on kiddo" he chuckled and picked her up.

"Anyone else wanna join?" he asked, looking back.

"I will" I replied, the words slipping out of my mouth. Well I couldn't take it back now. I payed the money to the guy controlling the ride. We sat in a teacup and the excitement on Bianca's face was adorable.

"This fair is complete deja vu" Jughead chuckled, remembering all of the fairs we use to go to.

"You've got that right. I'm glad I came" I smiled softly.

"Me too" he grinned.

"Really? You didnt look to happy earlier" I blurted out.

"Sorry-" I started, realising that was a little straight forward.

"No its okay. Melanie and I got in a fight" he mumbled awkwardly.

"Oh...you wanna talk about it?" I asked nervously.

"She's just so possessive. I can't go anywhere without an interrogation and- sorry...you don't want to listen to this"he chuckled awkwardly.

"Jug...if you need someone to talk too, I am still here. I mean it's not the same but I don't want you to feel like we can't talk. You got me through a lot when we were younger" I spoke.

"Uncle Jug! I wanna go again!" Bianca interrupted as the ride came to a stop. Jughead chuckled and payed for another round. Bianca sat in between us and we paused our conversation for the sake of her enjoyment.

"So...you and Jug seem cosy" Kevin smirked, linking arms with me.

"Kevin we're just friends" I reminded firmly.

"But you too looked adorable when you were both holding Bianca's hands throughout the fair. Me and V were dying of cuteness!" he challenged. I turned my head behind us and saw him carrying Bianca whilst she blew bubbles with the bubble wand Cheryl had bought her. It was a heartwarming image.

"He's got a girlfriend Kev. Things have changed" I protested.

"They don't have to change! You can see Melanie doesn't make him happy" he kept arguing.

"Kev! Just leave it!" I shouted making the group look at us. I dropped my head and walked away from Kevin, walking on my own through the crowds. Suddenly someone was by my side, walking closely.

"Everything alright?" he asked softly, his hand pressing on my shoulder lightly. I looked up and nodded.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay" I responded shortly.

"You sure? You and Kevin are always inseparable" he questioned.

"He just got on my nerves, it's nothing big. I just needed a bit of space" I assured, wrapping my arms around my shivering body.

"Here, take my jacket" he smiled and wrapped it around my shoulders.

"Thank you" I replied and held it tight around me, the familiar scent filling my red tinted nose. We walked in a comfortable silence back to the bar after a few hours, me sticking by Jughead's side. As soon as we entered the Wyrm we received the glares of Melanie.

"Jughead, where the hell have you been?" she asked, glaring at both of us.

"To the fair with my old mates. Why?" he asked, rolling his eyes.

"I've been waiting to talk about this morning". I quickly got everyone other to a booth to give them space and went to the bar to grab everyone hot drinks.

"I don't wanna talk Mel" I overhead Jughead.

"Well we have to! Otherwise this isn't going anywhere" she scoffed, [poiting between the two of them

"It never is! Can't I do anything fun for myself?"

"You're literally hanging out with your ex girlfriend!" she argued back. She did have a point...I didn't want to be the cause of their argument though.

"I can't exactly avoid her! She's part of the group whether you like it or not. We've moved on from each other Mel, we aren't the same dumb kids we use to be and if you can't accept that Betty's here then you need to leave...now" he confirmed. After a few seconds of silence she grabbed her bag and stormed out before he stormed upstairs to the office. I brought everyone's hot chocolates over and they were all whispering about what had just happened.

"Guys...we can't judge" I shrugged.

"I just don't like seeing him so lost. He's always the one with a plan" Toni huffed sadly.

"Me too. That girl just doesn't fit right" Sweetpea agreed.

"Betty...I saw you two earlier. What were you talking about?" Archie asked, taking a sip from his mug.

"Uh on the teacups we were talking about his argument with Melanie and then when we were walking he was just making sure I was okay" I explained.

"Not to mention he gave you his jacket and you're yet to remove it" Veronica grinned. Everyone smiled and I shook my head.

"I hate you all" I giggled whilst Toni hugged me from the side.

"You love us really" Kevin laughed, trying to smooth things over. I kissed his cheek and leant into his shoulder to reassure him. I could never stay mad at my best friend.

"It's so good to have you back Coop. We all missed our ray of sunshine" Fangs smiled. He's the last person I'd expect to be a serpent, he's just the purest human alive.

"I was questioning why I came back but now...Riverdale is back to being home for me" I stated. After many more hot chocolates and packets of crisps I snuck off to make my way upstairs. Cheryl and Toni had just left with Bianca and the rest were all chatting separately. I knocked on the door lightly and opened it to find Jughead with his head in his bruised hands and a dent in the wall.

"Shit Jug, what did you do?" I cursed and rushed over to him to examine his knuckles. I grabbed the first aid kid from a draw in his desk and quickly cleaned the red marks before bandaging both hands up, his head still hanging low.

"Jug, talk to me" I tried to encourage, for once not knowing what to say.

"I think it's over"
