A friend in need is a friend indeed

Skylar-

As I step into the four walls of school, my face becomes a mask of irritation and annoyance for having to leave my soft and comfy bed to be here.

To top it off, the results of the Calculus test will be out today and I'm so anxious to see it. Although I put a little effort in the test I don't know if it'll keep my grades from falling. The last thing I would want is to be given a tutor because I've always been good at reading on my own or with my friends.

Moving to my locker, I see a frantic Paige running towards me with wide eyes and flaying arms."It's today right?!...The results of that awful test will be out today right?and Mr Roderick said it's fifty percent of our
grades too!"Putting her hands on my shoulders she shakes me violently and continues,"What if I don't pass it or worse get-"

"Relax, you're not going to fail Calculus because the Paige I know is brilliant and smart too and I'm sure she did great."I smile encouragingly at her and continue," Now take a deep breath and let's head to class."

She nods slowly and takes a deep breath to calm down."Thanks Skye, that helped but I'm just so nervous about it, you know."

"Of course you are and it's totally normal because everyone is too so don't sweat it okay?"I scan the hallway in search of Amy but I don't see any sign of her. "Where's Amy by the way?"

"Oh she's probably in the restroom fixing her makeup or something.Let's go she'll meet us in class."Paige shrugs in response and tugs on my hand for us to be on our way.

Two hours later...

"I'm sure you're all aware that the results of your tests are in order and will be given to you in a few minutes. I also don't need to remind you that whatever you get will make fifty percent of your grades plus your attendance..."Mr Roderick informs with his eyes peering at us through his thick glasses.

The class remains quiet as the teacher goes round to give out the results to each student with different expressions on his face. Most of them don't look so happy as they see their papers while few have wide grins on their faces.

My hands become clammy and I gulp nervously as Mr Roderick reaches my desk. His expression is unreadable when he looks down at me with his outstretched hand, holding my paper.

I collect it and close my eyes to say a silent prayer that would have no effect but I do it nonetheless.

"Ahem!"Mr Thorntow's voice makes me jump slightly and I peer one eye open. "What are you doing Miss Davies?"

I flash him a big smile and shake my head."Oh nothing Mr Roderick... just peachy."

"If your score doesn't please you I'll have you know that a lot of students would love to be in your shoes and the shoes of others that passed the test."My eyes widen in realisation of his statement and I quickly open my paper to see my score. A huge grin forms on my face when I see a big red 85% at the top and I hug the paper to my chest in happiness.

I freaking passed the test!!!

Students begin to chatter and murmur excitedly about their results and I see my friends' faces as they scramble to meet me. Amy has a frown on her face as she hits her paper on my desk, loudly."Can you believe he gave me 79!?I mean I totally deserve that one mark don't I?...It won't kill him to add one more right?"She huffs in annoyance.

I roll my eyes at her display and respond,"He didn't give you 79 Amy, that's what you got."

"Yeah whatever."She sticks her tongue out at me.
