There are many reasons why we close our eyes during our life time. Sometimes it is for sleep, sometimes it is for pleasure, sometimes it is for fear and sometimes it is forever. Once our window to the world is closed, it allows us to use the power of imagination and escape from a world that is often hostile and unkind. But once that final day comes when we close our eyes for eternity, we wish that those who look upon us will do so without sadness or regret. We hope that they will remember us as we were, until that day comes when they too must close their eyes forever.
What do I see when I close my eyes tight?
I feel the gentle caress of my mother's arms so soft
I dream of smiling faces and feel comfort so warm
I hear my heart beating and listen for soft quiet sounds
When I close my eyes tight
I see colors so deep, floating slow and soft lights that glow
I hear voices and sounds outside this secret hiding place
Yet I still feel safe and warm, behind these eyes held tight
I will close my eyes often
When I fear, when I think, in my anger ... in my pleasure
Because I know when I close my eyes tight
I will feel safe and lonely no more
I can soar like an eagle and live like a king
Sail vast oceans and climb mountains high
Nothing is impossible or nothing is insane
When I close my eyes tight
But what do I hold behind my eyes tightly closed?
I hold memories so dear
Of my life, of my love, of my joys, of my tears
These all come to life inside my secret world
When I close my eyes tight
But a day will come, when I will close my eyes forever
So I can rest with no fears, no hate or no pain
When that final day comes, look upon my face with no sadness or sorrow
For I now live in eternity with my loved ones long passed
Look upon my eyes tightly closed forever
Remember me as your friend, as your shoulder to cry
Now close your eyes softly ...
Bring memories of me inside your secret world
Hold me there as your comfort ... keep me there as your guide
