Al and Ed silently walked to the library, neither spoke because the conversation would turn to last night, Al would re-ask the same questions and Ed would dodge the answers which would create anger that would overpower the concern both were feeling.

Ed walked slower than usual as exhaustion from the late night and early morning tangled around limbs and made a nest of dark bags under eyes. Ed did well to hide the two puncher marks on his neck from Al, but it stung when morning airbrushed the wound.

They sat down in the back of the library close to the section needed for the day. Silently they began to pull books off the shelves, flipped through pages and skim the content. If it wasn't relevant it would go back onto the shelves and if so it would go on the desk which was becoming more crowded with books every minute.

The whole tasked felt pointless to Ed, who knew who the murderer was, how she was killing and even why, but Ed couldn't tell or show the evidence to anyone and it became apparent how awful it was whenever Al would strike up a conversation to try to bounce theories off each other.

But with the mix of exhaustion, how pointless it all felt and the truth that was always on the tip of Ed's tongue it came across monotone and unenthusiastic which didn't help with Al's growing concern especially when a couple of days ago Ed was ready to take the murderer down.

Halfway through the day when it became apparent there wasn't going to be anything new by sunset, but both refused to stop looking just in case there was some piece of information that was buried within the pile of unread books.

Ed closed a book and got up from the table to put it away, once the book slid back into the bookcase, Ed turned to Al.

"I'm going to walk around the library, see if there are any books in other sections that might hold more answers."

Al looked up from the book and nodded. "Ok, how about I go as well that way it would be quicker," Al said about to close the book and start packing up everything.

"I was thinking I would go alone and for you to stay here that way we could still get through those books just in case there's something there."

"Oh, ok," Al said, a bit disappointedly.

Ed was taken aback when all Al did was continued to read the book, there was no argument or trying to convince to let him go, but then Ed remember that's all Al has been doing for the past twenty-four hours. Arguments and trying to convince Ed, but Ed wouldn't budge so why now?

It felt like Ed's heart skirted to the bottom of his stomach. He hated this, hated that there was nothing that could have been done, but turn and walk through the bookcases because even if he tried to tell the truth other words would come tumbling out that could make the situation worse.

Without saying anything else Ed walked down the rows of bookcases in search for any information about vampires.

Ed thought about the case and how everyone who was working on it was now grasping at straws not wanting to give up because people were still dying, but not knowing where to look next for non-existent evidence, going back over the information that was already collected, but still turning up nothing.

If Ed was allowed to tell anyone, would he? All the death would have been put to a stop, but if soldiers were sent to put Lilith behind bars would any of them succeed or would they all turn up dead?

The last hour was spent wondering around the library skimming titles and reading paragraphs, but still, there was nothing useful. However, there was an article about a doctor that was treating a patient with a rare disease that made them allergic to the sun, but that was it.
