07 | Bev's Encounter

THE LOUD ringing downstairs made Vera jolt awake. She rubbed her eyes, still tired after sleeping for only and hour after what happened to her last night.

With a yawn, she stood up and stretched before walking out of her bedroom and towards their household telephone. She knows her parents are still asleep after their travel so her mom won't be able to answer it.

Vera limped down the stairs as her ankle began to ache. "This is the Mayfield household." The brunette answered, leaning against the wall beside the phone.

"Vers, hi it's Bev." A quiet voice called out from the other line.

"Oh, hi Bev. Good morning." Vera replied with a smile.

"Are you free today?" The redhead questioned.

The Mayfield girl thinks for a moment. No, she is not free today. Her mum wants her to buy the groceries and run a few errands.

"Yeah, I'm free." Vera answers. The groceries can wait.

"Great!" Vera can hear the relief on Beverly's voice, "Can you come over to my house?"

Vera grinned, "Sure!"

"See you then."

"Wait, Bev—" The brunette was about to reply when Beverly hanged up.

"—I don't know where your house is." Vera continued, groaning and placing the phone back.

The girl walked back up to her room, grabbing a change of clothes. Which consists of blue khakis shorts, yellow shirt and her black Converse.

After changing, Vera went out and grabbed her bike.

She biked towards Bill's house, who was the closest to her. She saw the boy preparing his bike Silver.

"Bill!" She called out. Bill turned to look at her, waving and biking next to the girl.

"Did B-Bev call you too? She told me to gather the r-r-rest." Bill questioned as Vera nods her head.

"I'm gonna get Richie and Eddie, you go to Ben and Stan's house." Vera suggested and Bill agreed.

The girl gave the blue eyed boy a salute, which made him laugh before they parted ways.

Vera, Eddie and Richie met up with Bill, Ben and Stan. Together, they all ventured to where Bev's house is.

The usual bickering of Eddie and Richie filled the silence, with Stan's occasional dry remarks. This made Vera chuckle once in a while.

The losers finally arrived to Bev's house. They saw her ran towards them, panting.

"You made it, I-I need to show you something." She stuttered slightly.

"What is it?" Eddie questioned.

"More than what we saw at the quarry?" Richie remarked.

Vera turned to look at the bespectacled boy in disbelief, "Beep beep, Richie." She replied.

The boy just stuck his tongue at her.

"Shut up! Just shut up, Richie!" Eddie added.

"My dad would kill me if he finds out I had boys in the apartment." Beverly states, staring at them.
