I saw him standing there

I saw him standing there
Looking into distance
While he waited
& when our eyes met
His gaze turned distant

I could sense he was mad
For I made him wait
As I was always late

He took my hand
& walked me to the park bench
We take a seat
I pull out his favourite chocolate bar
& a handwritten note as an apology
As I mouth the words, "I am sorry"

His lips curved up into a smile
Showing off his cute canine
I was lost in his sea green eyes
As he messes with his chestnut brown hair
I couldn't help myself but stare

We go for a simple lunch
'cause we already missed our movie
On our way back he turned for elevator
But I dragged him to escalator
Both of us had our selfish motives
I wanted to spend every extra second with him
While he hoped to steal a quick kiss

We walk down the familiar path
He is next to me
In a flash he pulled me in a swift hug
I take in his unique scent
He smelled of cigarette, musk & peppermint

It felt like a daydream
But nightmare was by-and-by
It was time to say goodbye
My heart screamed to plead
As I watched him leave...
