"Mom I really don't have time to take Soohyun to some birthday party.." Hoseok looked across the counter to his mother who wasn't paying him much mind as she prepared dinner. "Hoseok I told you already you can miss one little musical practice to take your little sister to this party. People see her as the weird kid in class so she doesn't get invited to many things and I'd appreciate it if you'd be a bit more empathetic.."
Hoseok rolled his eyes and huffed. "It's not musical practice mom it's theater and.." he paused for a moment trying to come up with the right words, "I know what it feels like to be the weird kid but sometimes being weird isn't always a bad thing." Hoseok wasn't lying when he said he was one of the not so normal kids. He had found out about his own sexuality at a young age which lead to much bullying and teasing and even more confusing feelings. He had also realized his passion for being on stage but since people would tend to make fun of him he wanted to be a whole other person. That's when he, along with the help of his best friend Kim Seokjin a kid as equally queer as him, founded the theater club and it really took.
"Hoseok please." His mother looked up at him with tired eyes. He looked down at her hand which were shakily chopping vegetables. "Can you just do this one thing for me?" Hoseok thought for a moment before pushing himself off of the kitchen counter and walking towards his mom. He slowly took the knife from her hands and set it aside. Hoseok pulled his mother into a tight hug. "Fine I'll do it if you go take a nap and let me handle dinner." Along with Hoseok being obsessed with the spotlight he was also obsessed with cooking shows and learning new recipes.
His mother slowly pulled away from the hug and kissed Hoseok on the forehead. "Don't burn the house down, boy." She whispered and headed towards her room. Hoseok couldn't help but smile at his hard working mother. Though his father wasn't around he worked quite a bit which lead to many times Hoseok had to take his little sister over to SeokJins house in the middle of the night to keep her away from her screaming parents.
Hoseok picked up the knife and continued where his mother had left off. He soon felt his phone buzz immediately picking it up. He saw SeokJins caller ID and answered. "Hello.." he said holding his phone up by his shoulder so he could cook and talk on the phone.
"Hoseokie! Hey I wanted to know if you'd be able to make it to practice tomorrow? It's the first dress rehearsal and you know it's always chaos so without you there I'll have to do the other half of the work.." Hoseok smiles at the sound of Seokjins voice. It was always somehow calming especially in the most disastrous times. "Um Jinnie I'm really sorry but I can't make it. I have to take my sister to this damn birthday party since my mom wants her to finally have some friends that aren't imaginary."
Hoseok giggles a small but hearing Jins squeaky contagious laugh on the other side of the phone. "Ah I see I'll just have to carry the load of two men," Hoseok rolled his eyes picturing Jin doing something dramatic like falling back and putting his head over his forehead.
"Just ask Yugy to help you out or something. You know he's my right hand man." Hoseok snickered at his own reference to the musical "Hamilton" which was the name of the musical that they were working on. He could hear Jin laugh start up again which made him smile softly at the idea that his crush genuinely found his jokes funny. No much how he would deny it his feelings for Jin were much more than just platonic love it. Hoseok couldn't explain it but he wanted all of Jin's attention. The only place he seemed to really have it was during their many Theatre projects.
"Alright Hoseok as you wish but I accept you to be early for the next rehearsal." Hoseok replied with a small "yes sir" before saying their last goodbyes which consisted of Jin telling him to eat sleep and study. Hoseok set his phone down and stared at it as he finished up with cooking dinner. He put his phone back in his pocket and put a lid on the pot of stew he made. Hoseok then walked to his little sister Soohyun's room.
Her room wasn't like most little girls her ages rooms. It wasn't pink with a punch of princess things. It was actually painted green. She head a bunk bed that she honestly rarely used preferring to sleep in her indoor tent that was filled with god knows what. There were different pictures of her favorite animals hung up all around her room. And on her tv the nature channel continuously played. Hoseok knocked on her door that was open but he was polite. "Soohyun dinners ready c'mon." As soon as he uttered those words his little sister emerged from her indoor tent wearing a black tutu with red and blue stripped stockings. Her shirt had the Star Wars logo on it. Hoseok remembers how Soohyun begged for that damn shirt and now she barely took it off long enough so his mom could wash it.
Hoseok couldn't help but smile at his little sister. She may have been odd but he liked that about her. Although she could annoy the literally shit out of him with continuously spitting random facts about frogs, Hoseok would still bash someone's skull in if they even thought about hurting his precious little sister. "I already set the table go sit down I'll be right there gotta get mom.." she merely hummed and ran to the dinning room.
"You're really good with her.." Hoseok jumped as he heard his mother behind him. "Oh my god my you scared me!" He looked at her with wide eyes. "Sorry hunnie I'm just so proud of you.." his mother cupped his cheeks and kissed his forehead. A smile grew on Hoseok's lips. "Makes me excited for my future grandchildren." Hoseoks smiled faltered a small bit. He had yet to tell his mother about his sexuality and she would go on about how she couldn't wait to get a daughter in law. "Dinners ready mom lets go eat.." Hoseok pulled away from his mother and headed to the kitchen not wanting to talk about marriage or kids with his mom any longer.
