The empty halls echoed to the sound of my light footsteps as I walked through it.

My hands trembled slightly as I held onto the open window, desperate for some fresh air.

The smell of wet leaves overcame my senses, it almost felt as though I wasn't at school anymore, just floating around like everything's alright.

"Hey, are you okay?" The voice behind me snaps me from my trance

I turn to a handsome boy around my age "yeah, why?" I ask
"you're crying right now."

"Just a little stressed that's all." I wipe the tears running down my cheeks chuckling "I cry when I'm stressed. Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

He raises the attendance folder to my sight indicating he was taking it down to the office. "You wanna join me?" he asks calmly

"Sure why not, I'm skipping this class anyway." I smile as we start walking in comfortable silence

The faint sounds of chattering were heard from the classrooms as we passed through them. The tall boy next to me seemed to be relaxed as he looked around us as though it was his first time at the school

"What's your name?" I asked making him turn his attention to me "Timothée but you can call me Timmy if you'd like. What's yours?" "Y/n, just Y/n." I smile softly

"So, why have you been so stressed? If you don't mind me asking."

I shrug slightly knowing my reasoning wasn't the best "People who I trust haven't been the most faithful, it makes me feel kind of lonely. My friends are people who I've known for the longest time, and if I can't trust them then who can I trust." I rant

"I know what you mean. What have they done?" he asks

"It's more of an occurrence than a single distinct one-time thing. For example, once I told my friend I had a crush on a guy and she suddenly started subtlety flirting with him in front of me; or when they forgot to wait for me at lunchtime. You know when I say it out loud it doesn't sound so bad, but when it's constantly happening it hurts, you know." my voice cracks a little at the end "And I feel bad for ending all these years of friendship without having a solid reason."

He turns to me for a second before turning back "You shouldn't feel bad for ending a toxic friendship just because of how long you've known them. Your friends may have been good to you at first, but people change. If you don't feel comfortable with a certain group of people leave, there are over 7 billion people in the world I'm sure you'll find the right ones to be with."

I couldn't help but smile at his thoughtful words. He seemed to know what he's talking about, he may have gone through a similar situation even.

"What about you?" He raises his eyebrows with a smile "I don't have any friends at the moment I haven't found the right people."

We reach the office giving a nod at the secretary as Timothée drops off the attendance folder.

"Do you want to try it?" I ask as we wander the halls once again

"Do I want to try what?" he asks with a confused expression "Be friends, it might be nice. You seem like an interesting caring guy, though we've only met today, we should maybe hang soon and figure ourselves out." I beam

Timothée gazes at me for a short while before taking hold of my hand leading me to the front doors of the school

"What are you doing?" I ask confused by his sudden behaviour
"I'm skipping with you." He says "What? where are we going?"

He looks back at me with a playful smile "Nowhere specific, we can go around the outdoor markets, it's a couple of minutes away but it gives us time to get to know each other better."

"Hey you two, no skipping!" we both hear the voice of the hall monitor yelling at us. Timothée starts running dragging me by hand.

"Timmy slow down!" I laugh trying to keep up, which he seems to find amusing

"We gotta work on our friendship don't we? I'd prefer to do that now rather than in detention after school." Timmy says as the cold air hits our bodies when he opens the giant doors

Our laughs are heard through the streets as we hear the hall monitor who now gave up on catching us, yelling for us to go back

"Did she see our faces?" he asked worriedly

"I don't think so, plus who cares I'm starving. Let's go to that sushi place downtown." I say trying to catch my breath since we both stopped running

"Sushi place it is." he says now skipping like a little kid
"What are you so happy about?" I laugh

He stops skipping to just walking, with the same adorable smile as always "As you may or may not have noticed, I'm new. I honestly thought it was going to take longer to get a decent friend."

I am a bit surprised at first but am able to regain myself after a quick second "Hm so I'm decent, that's good to know."

His calm exterior finally breaks into an alarmed one "What, no I didn't mean it like that-"
"It's fine, I'm just teasing." I say punching his arm jokingly

Our warm breaths we're visible in the cold weather. Not many people were around at the moment, we listened to the sounds of cars occasionally driving by. A couple of birds were flying around along with orange leaves blowing in the wind.

This was a nice feeling

"You're easy to talk to, you know. It's nice." He says breaking the silence "I haven't always been like this, going up to people and actually starting a conversation." Timmy lets out laughing to himself "My old best friend was the one to help me get out of my shell, and it actually worked. But when I moved here it seemed harder to do so. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm glad I got to meet you today and thank you for that."

His words came out gratefully as he looked down.

I smiled at his shyness and hugged his arm as we stumbled a little to the side "Hey, we are no longer two lonely teenagers, we should be thanking each other."

We share a laugh as we continued to walk with my arm tangled with his "In that case, you're welcome friend." he says

"You too, friend."
