Second Chance.

The beginning...

Zhao Xin Ci sighed "I'll tell you how it all started. Promise me one thing, when I tell you everything do not purse this matter any further. Most importantly keep Yunlan in the dark about this particular matter."

"Just over a 1000 years ago, a number of people were being born with powers, whose role was to bring balance into the world and they were known as Guardians. However, there were a few people l were born with powers that could help them commune with spirits that granted them their powers they were known as Spirit Masters.

Spirit Masters could see into the future if only they have been well trained. They are only born into the world when the world is needed to be thought a lesson. But if the host is not strong enough to make a proper bond with the spirit, the spirit begins to feed off negative energy from its host such as sadness, rage, sorrow and heartbreak this would make the host's powers develop into destructive abilities.

Years passed and there were no Spirit Masters being born. The idea of Spirit Masters became tales, folklore, a story told to children and strangers alike. As even more time passed, they became legendary mythical beings who only existed in stories and as a result the council set up to train the new Spirit Masters dissolved.

In comes Shen Wei, who was born to two Guardians. A mother who had the ability to heal and a father who could project thoughts into people's heads. They were the most respected family in the Guardian community. This made everyone have high hopes for Shen Wei's powers and were keen to see what kind of abilities he will possess. Five years in, he showed no signs of any powers whatsoever.

Guardians had 16 as the cut off age for deeming anyone without powers a human. Shen Wei turned 15 and nothing yet, this made his parents worried, his parents truly loved and adored him. But he wasn't really respected by the people in the Guardian community and he also felt he didn't belong there. He was ridiculed and they barely considered him to do anything.

Before his 16th birthday he met Meng Po, one of the most powerful spirits who gave about third of the Guardian community their powers. Shen Wei didn't know who he was and Meng Po didn't particularly introduce himself as a Spirit Lord. They became really good friends, he was the first friend Shen Wei ever had and as time went on, Shen Wei understood that he was on the only one who could see Meng Po.

On his 16th birthday his parents told him to go the mortal realm and try to live amongst humans. He listened to his parents and entered the mortal realm. He was clueless, and kindhearted. He didn't understand the culture of the human's and made a mistake when he beat up a minister's son who bullied a peasant. This got the King's attention and Shen Wei got arrested. He was taken to the King to be given his sentence and that's when his guardian angel showed up. The only other person in Dragon City with authority, the Prince Kunlun.

Kunlun explained to his father about how this stranger gallantly saved the peasants when the Minister's son was at fault. He also told the King about how both the Minister and his son have been making plans with the enemies to take over Dragon Kingdom. The King then had them hanged for treason and for Shen Wei, the king demoted him to servant status. His duty was to serve by the Prince's side.

When Shen Wei first laid his eyes on Kunlun, one could say it was love at first sight. He was smitten with his Prince. Kunlun was indeed one of the most handsome Princes that ever lived. He got the hearts of every single maiden in the kingdom. For years Shen Wei served Kunlun, they became fond of each other. They did everything together. Just like two peas in a pod they were inseparable.

Until one day Kunlun confessed his feelings for Shen Wei and he accepted it as he has been longing for Kunlun. News of the Prince loving Shen Wei spread like wildfire. The King was furious when he heard this, he had Shen Wei arrested and beaten to a pulp daily. Kunlun tried to defend his love but was being watched over by some guards and placed under house arrest by the King.

One night, Kunlun managed to escape and had help to free Shen Wei from prison. They run away from the Palace in hopes of going to the Guardian community as that's where Shen Wei is from. However, that same night something unspeakable happened and until this day I blame Shen Wei. Kunlun died that night and witness stated it was Shen Wei because Kunlun's heart was found in his hand. Shen Wei wreaked havoc after Kunlun's death. He was indeed formidable, he murdered hundreds of people. He was a true Spirit Master who couldn't be stopped and all he did an endless spree of killing.

News of this got to Shen Wei's parents and went to the human realm to see their son. After their visit there was no news of Shen Wei it was as if he had disappeared from face of earth.

That's how it all began. That picture, is the photo of you two in your last life. Your mother knew I was against you two being together. She thought in every life it will be different 'Love will prevail' she always said, but she was always wrong. I'll let you know one thing out of the respect I had for your mother. Your parents' death was never an accident. I believe it was caused by a secret organisation that I'm part of. 

This endless cycle of Yunlan dying all started because of his love for you. Over a 1000 years I have pleaded to you to stay away from my son and over a 1000 years I have lost my son because of you in each life. I will go on my knees if I have to, please stay away from my son. I can't not bare to see Yunlan die again in this life too."

Unknown to Zhao Xin Ci that the secret organisation he works for is what's left of the "Guardians." And most importantly they were the main cause of Yunlan's death in each life not Shen Wei...
