Second Chance.

Disoriented

After the meeting ended, Yunlan tried calling his father but there was no response. He first called Yezun to check on Shen Wei and told him he will be later than expected and also apologised for leaving Shen Wei like that.  After he ended the call, he headed to his father's house, there was no sign of him being home. He looked for Zhao Xin Ci in his usual places but still couldn't find him. Yunlan then met with his detective friend Chu Shu Zhi to help him look into his Father's sudden disappearance. Chu Shu Zhi is a friend planted next to Yunlan by Zhao Xin Ci. He works for Zhao Xin Ci and his main job is to protect Yunlan from danger.

"What has my old man been up to lately? He said he was investigating a secret organisation he's involved in. Did he tell you anything about this?" Yunlan asked Shu Zhi. He told Yunlan, Zhao Xin Ci hasn't been doing much lately he mostly spends his time with his friends at the golf course and he had no idea he was investigating an organisation, he then added "I will look into it as soon as possible." As they spent time searching it was getting late, Yunlan needed to head back to Shen Wei. He told Shu Zhi to continue with the search and call if anything pops up. As Yunlan walked away, Shu Zhi whispered to himself "Sorry A'Lan I don't think you're ready to hear the truth." to himself. The day before the last person Zhao Xin Ci spoke to before he was abducted was Chu Shu Zhi. He was investigating the "Guardian Community" and guessed they must have had something to do with Zhao's sudden disappearance.

Back at the Wei Mansion, Shen Wei woke up from his sleep with Yunlan seated next to him with a wet towel in his hand. "You're finally awake Xiao Wei." Yunlan said to his love. Shen Wei remained silent as he stared at Yunlan who helped him to sit up to feed him. "I prepared your favourite porridge. I don't know about the taste but I hope you like it." Yunlan said grinning. Shen Wei still stayed silent with tears forming in his eyes. Yunlan immediately wiped his tears as he fed him a spoonful of porridge. "How does it taste?" Still no reply from Shen Wei, Yunlan fed him until he completely emptied the bowl. "Well done Xiao Wei you finished it. I think I will cook this for you from now on." Just when Yunlan finishes his sentence, the words "from now on" was being repeated in Shen Wei's head. He could hear Zhao Xin Ci saying it to him repeatedly as he saw what he did to Zhao Xin Ci. He immediately got up from his bed and headed to the bathroom where he threw up everything he ate. Yunlan stood behind him rubbing his back in a circular motion. "I'm s-sorry...sorry Xiao Lan..." Shen Wei said to Yunlan. "What are you apologising for? If anything I should be the one saying sorry, my cooking tasted horrible. How did you even eat that? I think I should leave the cooking to the experts." Yunlan said to Shen Wei assuring him with a bright smile on his face. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." Shen Wei continuously said to Yunlan. "Why do you keep saying sorry. You haven't done anything wro-..." Yunlan was saying before he was cut off by a phone all from Chu Shu Zhi.

"Make it quick, I'm busy." Yunlan said as he picked up.

"Yunlan...I found him...your father..."

"Where did you find my Old man? Is he ok? Let me speak to him. Actually no. Don't let him know I was loo-..."

"Yunlan! He's dead..."

"Wh-What do you mean he's dead? I saw him a few days ago, he was fine. This is not the time for jokes Shu Zhi."

"Your father...he's dead. We just found his body. We have reasons to believe he was murdered. I need you to meet me at the forensic unit immediately. Hello...Hello...Yunlan are you still there? Say something, Yun-..."

Zhao Yunlan cut the call as he was in disbelief. He loosened his necktie, as he began to find it difficult to breathe. "Xiao Wei...I need to...head out for a bit..." Yunlan couldn't hear anything, anyone said to him in that state. He rushed to his car and drove as fast as he could to get to there. He arrived and Shu Zhi led him into a room where he IDed his father's body. It was a sight to see. One of the forensic doctors explained what happened to his father, "His bones were crushed, he barely had any blood left in his body but there were no signs of him being hit. All his injuries started internally somehow, I've never seen or heard of anything like this before. It was as if his bones were commanded to crush."

Yunlan tried to get closer to his father's body but he took two steps and couldn't further his steps. He stood still and stared at his father's cold corpse silently. Shu Zhi together with the doctor exited the room quietly leaving Yunlan to pay his final respects to his father. When Chu Shu Zhi left the room he called Shen Wei using Yunlan's phone. He explained everything and told him the person he needs the most right now is Shen Wei. After he ended the call, Yunlan left the room and he handed Yunlan a piece of evidence they saw at the scene. Yunlan took a closer look at the evidence he knew exactly who it belonged to but he denied ever seeing it before. "I think this will help us find your father's murderer quicker." Chu Shizu stated.

The following day Yunlan was seated in his car in the garage at the Wei mansion. He sat in his car the entire night grieving his father's death and thinking about the evidence shown to him. He finally pulled himself together and entered the house, he went straight into Jing's lab and asked who the blood found on Shen Wei belonged to. He entered and both Yezun and Jing were the in the lab. Yunlan demanded they tell him the truth about the blood stains. "Please do not lie to me, does the blood found on Shen Wei's clothes belong to my father?" Yunlan asked devastated . Lin Jing silently nodded. Yunlan's world came to a halt, he was hoping Jing would lie about it, he hoped it was just a coincidence that the piece of clothing found as evidence didn't belong to his loved one. At that moment Shen Wei also entered the lab and apologised to Yunlan. "Why? Why did you do it? What did my old man do to deserve that?" a devastated Yunlan asked. Shen Wei got closer to Yunlan and he placed his hand on Yunlan's shoulder "I'm so-..."
"SORRY WILL NOT BRING HIM BACK WOULD IT?!!" Yunlan yelled cutting Shen Wei off. "I-I don't remember anything, I-I-I don't even remember why or how I met him. I'm so sorry Xiao Lan..." Shen Wei then hugged Yunlan from the back apologising for what he's done but Yunlan did not respond back to his hug. He slowly got out of Shen Wei's hold and walked out of the lab without saying a word. He looked lost and befuddled as he drew closer to his car. He got in and cried to himself as he left Shen Wei's home.
