As Tyler and I entered the kitchen we were met with Yanni sitting at the bar with his head in his hands and Anthony casually sipping coffee.
"And where are you two headed off to this morning?" Anthony asked us as he saw my backpack slung over my shoulder.
"Well we're nursing our hangovers with IHOP pancakes and a surf session at the St. Pete jetty and fishing pier." Tyler responded.
"Sounds like fun, but where's our invite?" He questioned.
"Can you even surf?" I asked him and he looked over at me.
"Well no... But I've always wanted to learn, it looks like a lot of fun." He replied.
"Oh it is! The drop in on a big wave will take your breath away and put your heart in your throat." Tyler exclaimed and looked at me and I smiled and nodded.
"And being barreled in a big wave makes you feel like you're on top of the world!" I added raising my voice in excitement.
"Ahh words! Too loud!" Yanni said from his barstool and didn't take his head out of his hands.
"Oops, sorry Gordy," I apologized.
"Wow I guess you'll have to take me sometime," Anthony said redirecting the conversation back to the topic and shot me a wink.
"I'll take you but you'll have to keep up with me and not get lost in the soup," I smirked.
Anthony laughed and raised his coffee up at me.
"No seriously, she's a tough one to keep up with," Tyler jumped in.
"Oh I believe it," he smirked.
"Well, we should get going before the waves go flat," I said and turned on my heels.
"Right that sounds like a good idea because I'm hungry. Can you guys lock up when you leave?" He asked the boys.
"Yeah I got you," Anthony replied.
"Do you know where the spare key is?" Tyler asked again joining me by my side.
"Yeah I got it, you two go have fun," he replied again and shoo'd us off.
With that, we both turned on our heels and made our way to the side door which lead out to the garage.
"Take my car?" I asked.
"Yeah, you have a beach pass so we can drive on the beach and I don't think my car could fit the boards." He answered and pressed the button to open up the garage.
The humid Florida heat filled the air of the garage. I watched Tyler reach up to the wall rack that had three surfboards on it and grab the red one. He leaned it up against the wall and then opened up a box next to the rack and grabbed two packages of surf wax.
He turned around and tossed me one, which I caught and thanked him.
He tucked the surfboard under his arm and maneuvered his way out of the garage, being careful not to hit his car.
I followed him out of the garage and unlocked my Jeep so he could put it in the back while I punched in the garage code to shut it.
I walked down the driveway a bit to where my car was parked and opened the door and got in. I set my bag on the floor of the passenger side and waited for Tyler to get in. Once he got in, I started the car and decided that this surfing excursion needed some beachy music like The Dirty Heads. I flipped on my aux and played "Your Love" and backed out of the driveway.
