JAY-P'S POV

I know I should have told her as soon as I found out but I guess I needed time to process it. I shouldn't have distanced myself from her for this long, yeah I missed her but I need to wrap my head around the situation.

"My dad got out of jail. Last week." I say to her in a voice as steady as I can manage. My shoulder's sag in relief and I feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I read her facial expression and wait for her to say something. Just anything.

But she doesn't, instead she wraps her arms around my waist and pulls us together. I find the bench table and just drop my food on it out of astonishment. I knew she would react in the right way but I didn't think it would affect me like this.

I encircle her small waist with my own arms and return the hug gratefully. Before I know what is happening I feel trails of water escaping my closed eyes. Without saying anything she tightens her hold on me as if she is trying to hold me together.

We stay like this for a while, me crying and her just holding me, being there for me. I pull away after composing myself and just look at Cherise. Her eyes are filled with endearment and worry.

"Thank you for telling my that Jay," she says to me her eyes still never leaving mine, her voice so soft I can only just hear her, wit her arms still wrapper around my waist.

We don't say anything to each other while we finish our lukewarm burgers. But the silence isn't awkward the air is filled with understanding and an unspoken trust. I find a bin and collect all our rubbish inside it. Still in silence we make our way back my car.

As always I wait for her to get in before I walk round to my side of the car. She may not like it when I open the door for her but that doesn't mean I can't wait for her to get in first.

. . .

CHERISE'S POV

We pull up to the house at around 2.00 ish. Mum and dad are still at work and I can see the light from Darion's computer screen through his drawn bedroom curtains as we get out the car. I get my key out of my overalls front pocket and push it through the keyhole.

We split up to drop our things into our individual rooms and I quickly change into some PJ's. I don't care how early in the day it is, I can wear PJ's in my own house whenever I damn feel like it. I choose a casual off the shoulder grey sweater and some matching grey booty shorts.

I pile my hair on top off my head in a messy bun and take out my earrings. I pull on some fluffy grey socks and put my phone on charge so later on I can finish bingeing Top Boy - for the third time since it came out last month. I dunno why but I prefer watching Netflix on my phone. Call me weird, I don't care.

Pushing my feet into my fluffy grey slides I make my way downstairs. I guess I got down here a bit earlier than Jay as the kitchen and the living room are both empty. Bending over slightly to get better access to the blanket box pushed up against the radiator in the corner of the room.

Rummaging around looking for the fluffy grey blanket that I know we have I feel a pair of eyes on me. I crouch down to get easier access to the blanket and pull the bottom of my shirts down slightly as they rode up my ass.

Finally uncovering the blanket I lift it out the box and turn around to find Jay leaning against the door frame, obviously enjoying the view. I roll my eyes and walk past him to sit in the recliner. As I walk past I feel his hand connect with my butt and I can't help but giggle.

JAY-P'S POV

I walk down the corridor to Cherise's room to find it empty. She went down without me then. I head down the stairs and quietly push the living room door open. I'm gonna scare the crap out of her for leaving me upstairs alone.
