Chapter 3

Michelle gets home later that night having walked around for a bit to process everything around her. When she got back to her apartment, she found her sister in the living room watching a movie

"Hey sis, how was your date," Maya asked.

"It was really enjoyable to be honest." Michelle answered.

"Enjoyable huh? So, what did you do?"

Michelle started explaining her afternoon to Maya, not leaving out any important details. Even when Michelle started talking about scientific things her and Peter talked about and Maya's eyes started to glaze over. Eventually, Michelle got to the end of the date.

"So, while we were in the park Peter stop me and I'm sure he's about to ask me to be his girlfriend, right then he gets called away!" Michelle huffed.

"Called away by what," Maya asked

Michelle Paused, "Uh, he got an urgent call from his aunt." Michelle hoped her sister wouldn't ask any more questions on the subject.

"Oh, I hope everything was okay" Maya stated sounding concerned.

"Yeah," Michelle said, "I think everything was fine. Okay, so I'm the literal walking dead right now so I'm gonna go bed. Night," and she ran up the stairs.

Maya laughed at her sister, "the dead don't run!"

Michelle woke up the next morning feeling fine. Just fine. Until she got a message from Peter asking if she wanted to hang out with him and Ned at his apartment today. This brightened Michelle's whole mood.

Michelle walked to her kitchen to get some breakfast and noticed a note from her mother.

'Michelle. I had to take an extra shift, it'll probably stay like this the rest of the week. Maya will be home later this evening. I left you some money and there's food in the fridge. Luv Mamma:)'

Michelle was a bit sad she won't see her family until this evening. Since Maya went to college and her mother works a lot Michelle has been alone more than she'd like, but she understands. It's easier when she's at school because she has friends now, but the summer can be a bit lonely. This is another reason Michelle was happy to get that text from peter, so she won't be bored by herself today.

Michelle was keeping herself busy by doing her chores and reading until she was to go over Peters. After she got back from her European trip, Michelle went to her favorite vintage bookstore and asked if they have any job openings. Michelle thought working there would give her something to do for the rest of summer until school starts. Michelle finally got a call back from the bookstore.

"Hello"

"Hello, my name is Taylor from McAvery's Book Emporium, is this Michelle Jones?"

"Yes, this is her."

"Well Michelle, I've noticed that you applied to work at the bookstore. We don't usually hire new workers here, but the owner has seen you around here very often reading or studying, and she thought you would make a great new addition. So, what do you say?" Taylor asked.

"Oh, that sounds amaz- uh, I mean...that sounds good." Michelle tried to control her excitement.

Taylor laughed. "Okay, come to the store at 8a.m. next Monday for training."

"Will do, thanks Taylor," said Michelle.

"No problem. If you have any questions feel free to call me at this number or just stop at the store, if not, see you Monday!" Taylor said then hung up.

Michelle was so excited she didn't know what to do with herself. Her day just went from fine, to exciting, to unbelievable! She looked down at her phone and saw that it was almost time to leave for Peter's, so she went to her room to get dressed.

When Michelle arrives at peters apartment, she's greeted by May.

"Hello Michelle! How are you? Peter just will not stop talking about you, it's adorable. So, Peter and Ned are in his room. It's the first door on your right. I have to leave for a while, so I'll see you later. Have fun!" May say happily and she ran out the door leaving Michelle in the doorway stunned at the interaction.

Michelle looks around the apartment. it's a normal apartment, with lots of do-it-yourself crafts, that Michelle assumes May has been creating for a while. It looks nice and homey.

Michelle walks up to Peters door, takes a deep breath, and kicks it open, "What's up, losers."

Ned fell out of his chair, "Jesus Christ MJ!" Ned clutched his chest like his heart going to fall out.

Peter chuckles and looks over at Ned. "I heard her coming."

"If you heard her why you didn't you tell me! She could've given me an aneurysm!" Ned yells.

Peter says, "cause it's funny." At the same time Michelle says "don't be dramatic."

"You two suck. Y'all deserve each other. I'm gonna get a snack. Don't ask for one cause I'm not getting you anything." Ned mutters as he walks away.

Peter and Michelle share a smile and she walks over to sit by him on his bed.

"Hey MJ."

"Hi Peter"

Peter slowly leans in to kiss her. Just as their lips meet, they hear Ned coming down the hallway, "I'M COMING BACK. I DON'T WANNA SEE ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE!"

Peter sighs and pulls away "Ned had the worst timing."

Michelle stares daggers at Ned as he enters the room.

"I know you two have something going on and, but I don't want to see any of that canoodling around me. And no, I won't leave cause you guys are my best friends and I wanna hang out today," Ned states grabbing the controller, resuming the game without Peter.

"Dude!" Peter shouts as he playfully attacks Ned.

Michelle watched on as they play wrestle. They soon get back to playing the game they were playing before Michelle came in. Michelle pulls out a book and begins to read, she then feels something leaning on her. She looks down to see Peter, sitting on the floor with his back on the bed and his head leaning against her knee. Michelle smirks and continues reading her book pretending she doesn't notice Ned's smug expression.

I love this story so much I wrote almost 7 pages for this chapter lol so I had to cut this chapter in half. im trying to get to the point where in a few chapters ahead but rn im like a half chapter ahead. idk where they story is going rn becasue im just writing as i go which has been working out so far. so if you wanna see anything let me know and i might put it in :)
