The sound of enthused chatter echoed around the grand hall as demons dressed in the finest attire waited anxiously for the presence of their king.

A pale faced demon with poison green eyes and dark wavy hair dressed in a blood red suit and black tie peered around a heavy sapphire blue velvet curtain, scanning the crowds in a growing panic.

"Where is that bloody woman?!" He muttered to himself, unaware of the approaching footsteps behind him. "This is the third time we've neared disaster..."

"Ah, Kill!" Said a voice he was too familiar with. "Can you believe it's that time of year again?"

Kill turned around to see the king of the demon world dressed in a cobalt tuxedo with a golden neck tie that all contrasted brilliantly with his platinum blond hair and sharp blue eyes.

His queen, Marzacre, a slender lady-demon with ash-blonde hair streaked with brown, and amber eyes had her arm linked with his, their fingers entwined. She donned a long, silver dress that shimmered as if it were made of diamonds.

Forcing a smile, Kill nodded his agreement.

"Yes, your majesty. Time does fly...I hope everything goes according to plan for your liking."

"I'm really looking forward to this gathering, Kill." The king nodded before turning to his wife. "I thought Malice's inauguration would never come."

The queen nodded. "She's such a talented demon with so much promise."

Kill forced down a grimace. "Yes. She has...come so far."

He watched as the curtains drew apart for the couple. Immediately, an applause of claps and cheers ruptured in a deafening echo as King PewDIE and Queen Marzacre waved at the adoring crowd.

"If she actually shows up that is..."

"Come on, Anti!" Laughed a long dark haired demon as she looked back at her friend. "How are you being slower than me? You're the one who's usually glitching a head of everyone."

Anti, another demon with brown spiky hair and dressed entirely in black, approached her with a pout.

They stood on the roof top of a tall building, giving them a brilliant view of their surroundings below.

"You know I get edgy when we enter the human world, Malice." He said looking around while scratching at the bloodied slit across his throat. "This place is so...so..."

"Amazing!" Malice laughed, her black painted lips stretching into a grin. "Isn't it fantastic? You don't get a picture like this at home."

"Yeah, it's great." Anti sighed, rolling his eyes as his form glitched. "Can we get out of here?! Die will go nuts if he finds out we're here! You know how he hates humans..."

Malice scoffed as she shook her head before jumping down onto a nearby fire escape. "Anti, you are such an imp."

"I am not an imp!" He whined. "And wait for me!"

The demons made their way down several sets of ladders until their feet touched the pavement.

Malice straightened the lapels of her red leather jacket, grinning at all the people who walked past them unawares before looking up at the night sky.

"I've always wondered how mortals live..." She muttered. "How do they survive without any of our abilities?"

Anti gave a shrug. "I don't know. I would suggest you ask one, but it's a pity they can't see us."

"Yeah..." She nodded solemnly watching a mother and child walk past them. "I know we can't stay here long, but there must be someway we can find out."

"Why don't we follow a couple of humans and see what happens?"

Malice smiled. "Good idea."

The two started walking down a quiet street. Malice's eager eyes scanning for any scrap of insight as she took in the vast buildings and streetlamps.

"Can I ask you something, Mal?" Said Anti.

"You just did." She smirked, her shadowy eyelids lowered smugly.

"Oh ha ha..." He rolled his eyes. "Why are you so interested in the human world? Die doesn't paint them in a good light."

"I don't know." Malice shrugged. "I suppose it was when I first teleported here by accident and...well, I just got more curious when I discovered humans don't have any powers; they rely solely on technology for almost everything. I don't know how or why, but they do."

"Really?" Anti said, looking at her. "I know we use it occasionally, but for everything?!"

"Yeah," She nodded before a faint booming sound caught her attention. "What is that?"

"I don't know, but it looks like it's coming from over there." Anti said, pointing towards an array of flashing lights that came from behind a tall brick wall. "Teleport us to a rooftop so we can see."

Taking his hand, Malice looked up at a building several yards from them, and closed her eyes. In a flash of blinding teal, she and Anti stood 2 stories high off the ground, giving them a bird's eye view of the happenings.

"Whoa..." They awed in unison.

The placed they were looking into appeared to be a large field set up with a stage of laser lights and stereo speakers blasting out loud, upbeat music that the demons had never heard before as they watch dozens of human dancing and jumping around the place.

"Yeah!" Anti laughed, rocking his hips to the rhythm. "Humans know how to party!"

"Party?" Malice's face fell. Her eyes widened as she looked at her friend. "Oh no! My inauguration!"

Anti's grin disappeared. "That was today?"

"Ugh!" She groaned, running her hands through her hair. "Die is going to kill me!"

"We better get going. Kill will want to bust our balls too..." He grimaced, taking her hand as she teleported them back to the demon world, unaware of the fact that they were being watched.

"Yes. Hurry home, my dear... We wouldn't want to miss the celebration now, would we?" Spoke a man with pale gray skin and raven hair, his onyx eyes fixed onto an ink black pensieve.

It's silvery liquid rippled as it projected the moving images of Malice and Anti hurrying back to King Die's palace.

"Celebration indeed... Bah! Only the worthy were celebrated when I lived in the palace! And now, look at me...banished and exiled while he and his wishful public frolic and rejoice. I'll give them something to celebrate..."

He turned around to face a pair of demons who stood behind him, awaiting instruction.

One had a mass of dark curled hair with a large scar running down the side of his face while the other had a set of eyes that were completely black, giving the impression that he had empty eye sockets.

"Xyler! Blank! I want you both to keep an extra close watch on this pretty little demon. She may be the key to Die's undoing. . . ."
