Third Person (Virgil)

Virgil was once again looking for his pocket watch. He saw that person from yesterday and wasn't sure what to do so he just did the smart thing and ignored him, continuing to search for his pocket watch.

He was crouching on the floor, dusting the leaves away when he heard a voice and recognized a certain smell.

   "Lookin for this?"

It was the person. He startled Virgil causing him to jump up quickly. The person seemed calm and had the pocket watch dangling on his finger by the dirty-golden chain.

   "Uh, y-yea"

The person tossed him the watch and introduced himself.

   "I'm Roman, Prince Roman"

He held his hand out, waiting for Virgil to return the greeting. Virgil was surprised and didn't know if he should trust the Prince. What if he grabbed his hand out to greet him but Roman pulled him in and chloroformed him and held him captive for his organs. Virgil made the dumb decision to greet him anyway.

   "I-I'm Virgil"

His voice was hoarse from not speaking for about a week now. He said this while scratching the back of his neck with his other hand and looking up at Roman with wide curious eyes. Then immediately looked at the ground and backed up nervously, letting his bangs cover his eyes, and put his hands in his pockets.

Roman chuckled at his cuteness and said,

   "Chill, I won't hurt you"

And gave a comforting smile. Virgil scratched the back of neck again and gave a small smile of relief.

"Why are you so dangerously close to the castle anyway?"

"I-I was looking for my pocket watch"
Virgil said nervously as if Roman hadn't noticed yet.

"Why was the pocket watch so dangerously close to the castle?"

"I hid it here because I thought that nobody wanted to go so dangerously close to the castle"

"Why were you trying so desperately to hide it?"

"Because it belonged to my mum.. she gave it to me before she said her last words"

He spilled the information before he had the chance to stop himself. He never said this much information to anyone, let alone a stranger, before.

Virgil and Roman had a long conversation after that, making jokes, teasing each other, and just having a fun time. Virgil never really had a close friend that he could talk with like this. He wondered why the world decided to bring them both together when they were both risking each other's lives just by giving each other a friendly glance.

Virgil went back to his cave and slept soundly through the rest of the day.

Third Person (Roman)

Roman never realized how funny and adorable Virgil really was when he was chill. When walking back to the castle he was greeted with a very exited Patton.

"What makes you so happy on this fine evening Patton?"

"I JUST GOT A COMPLEMENT FROM THE KING!!!"

   "Are you serious?? Congrats!!"

It was extremely, in fact, almost impossible for a servant to get complement from The King. This was a great achievement for any servant.

Roman headed back to the castle, just conversating with Patton, how life is on the good side so far, still hiding the fact that he had a whole conversation with Virgil earlier.

They got back in the castle, Roman greeted the king while Patton just stood their, acting miserable and not looking up at The King.

Roman got back to his bedroom and once again, just couldn't stop thinking about Virgil.
   "Is something troubling you kiddo?"
Patton's voice snapped him out of his trance.

   "Uhh no.. I'm fine.."

   "What's got your attention then?"

Roman still didn't know if he should tell patton about Virgil. He didn't want to risk Virgil's life but it was gnawing at his stomach ever since the time he first saw him.

"Just.. this bird I saw. It was really pretty"

Roman didn't like to lie to his best friends but sometimes, it had to be done.

"Ooooooooh! What did it look like!!"

"It was.. red.. and blue. It had a bright red beak, bright red and blue wings, and a teal and blue tail, with the rest being black, with some black accents on the wings and tail."

Patton looked like he was about to explode!

   Roman chuckled.

   "You good Patton?"

   "I want to see it!"

He whispered as a way to contain all of his excitement and not squeal as loud as possible.

They both giggled. Then Patton had to go back to the bedroom he shared with all the other servants.

Roman had to think of what to do if they got caught. Or if Virgil was brought to the king by one of the guards. He would've had the honor of killing him so he had to think of what to do and say.

He lay on his bed, watching the sunset, enjoying the time he had with himself, and planning jokes or conversation starters for the next day. The sky was filled with blues, reds, oranges and yellows. His eyes were met with the beauty of the sky and the colors of day, fading into the blackness of the night.

The colors had completely faded and now it was just the blackness of nighttime. Little white sparkles, sprinkled against the sky. The moonlight, hitting his upper window, creating a beautiful streak of blue-white light to stretch across his bedroom and on to his bed. He lay covered and blinded by the light.

After 3 minutes, the light moved off of his bed and he couldn't see anything since his eyes weren't used to the darkness and the streak of light that was beside him, unabled him to adjust to the dark, blinding him until the light went away. But now he felt empty. He could see in the dark now but something was missing, and he didn't know what. He decided to just go to sleep and forget about anything that was troubling him.
