   Logan's POV

I was just walking back to the castle after I found Roman talking to some person in the forest. The guy is a moron but I can't do anything about it because he's the prince, and he could just send me out of my position as a night with a snap of his fingers. I guess we're ally's so he probably wouldn't do that but I wouldn't risk it.
I found the leaves of the trees rustling above me relaxing. They calmed my anger that I had just talked through with Roman about the ridiculously dangerous risk he was taking, and still is. I got back to the castle and I saw that Patton ran off as soon as he saw me. He did this yesterday and has been doing it for the last few days. Im not sure if he's scared of me or if he likes me anymore. Patton is a.. unique person, but for some reason, I like that about him. He makes life a little, less boring.
Once you enter the castle you see two big entrances on the left and right side of the castle. They are framed with gold lining and you can see the red carpet along the floor of each hallway. Each hallway ends with a staircase leading downward. No one is allowed down there for various reasons. Only the king, queen, and princes are supposed to know what is down there, But obviously Roman told his closest friends.
When you look forward you see two staircases leading upwards to a balcony-like structure. The balcony leads to two other hallways, similar to the ones on the bottom but slightly smaller. The doorways were round just like and ones on the bottom and they were lined with gold. The red carpet lead through the balcony and connected the two doorways.
In the complete middle of the two staircases and below the balcony, on the wall, hung and very large clock. The clock was written in shiny black roman numerals. It had three black thin hands of different lengths. It was framed in a complicated golden pattern and sat on the wall, ticking, giving the castle a slightly eerie feeling.
The large open area in the middle had a hard floor, golden patterns running through it like veins.
I walked up to the right staircase and arrived at the balcony. I rested my hands on the railing, also white a gold. This generation really likes gold, if you couldn't tell already.
My eyes followed the golden lines that I have seen so many times before.
You see, the whole reason Relitras hide in the first place is because if you take about an entire body worth of blood out of one, it can be compressed into a drop of what is called, golden blood. I'm not sure why they call it golden, because it's really pitch black with a shine that could make your eyes hurt. It's said that if you have a gallon of that golden blood and you add a few chemicals to the mixer, and boil it down, you get a small nugget of gold metal. It's said that the piece of metal can heal ANYTHING if swallowed, even if previously said unhealable, And the queen is sick with an unknown disease. Some Relitras are born with full golden blood. That is what the king is searching for but he takes the small drops anyway.
It is almost impossible to tell a Relitra from a regular human being while in their human forms, which is why there are so many of us that haven't been caught yet. By the looks of it, the queen doesn't have very many months left until-

"HI!"

I jump at the sudden loud noise! It was just patten..

*clears throat* "you scared me."

I fix my tie as if I had just been shaken up more than I really was.
You might be thinking, why is a night wearing a tie and not shining metal armor? We aren't always in that heavy, uncomfortable suit. Only during battles and training.

"Oh sorry, anyway I wanted to ask, are you busy with anything at the moment?"

He didn't look very sorry when he said it.

"No why?"

"Do you maybe want to.. umm.."

I didn't understand why he was so nervous about this

"Do you want to hang out?"

"That would be nice, yes"

I didn't know why I agreed to that, I never do things like this but for some reason, something was just drawing me closer to Patton, closer than what I am used to.

"EEEK! Sorry that was loud!"

He looked around to see if anyone was looking at us because of that.

"So, see you at the lake behind the castle?"

"Indeed."

"Okie!"

He ran off giggling.. so strange.

Roman's POV

I stand there, smiling and conversating with Virgil. His smile is brighter than you would expect from is usual dark domineer. I see the light wind ruffling up his brown and purple hair. It looks so soft.. so..

"Earth to Roman? You good?"

He waved his hand in my face. I clear my throat and answer with this,

"My apologies I got distracted"

"With what? What were you thinking about princey?"

"Nothing of your concern"

I cross my arms defensively. Virgil just scoffs.

"Anyway what we're talking about?"

I say. I uncross my arms and soften my gaze from defensive to friendly.
Virgil doesn't answer this right away, instead he just looks at his watch and his eyes widen with fear.

"I-I gotta go!"

"Why, what is it?"

"Can I explain tomorrow? It's just I really need to go!"

"Alright, see you tomorrow.."

At that he ran off into the forest.
As I'm walking back to the castle, I can't stop thinking about what was bothering Virgil. It's like I was ready to tear it to shreads! But why.. I'm not usually this defensive. I'm definitely in love..
I arrive at the castle but instead of going inside, I go to the back. I want to clear my mind. It's getting dark already so no one should be out there but the guards.
I get to the back but what I see is not what I expected. I see logan and patton. But what is most shocking is that Logan is smiling! I'm kidding, Logan smiles from time to time but I'm still gonna tease him for it later. The two finally got together, just like I expected. I start heading back to the nearest entrance to the castle.

A/N:
I give a shoutout to @candiwolfe for encouraging me to continue this book. For a long while I had lost the motivation to continue this but they were just so kind with everything they said that I just had the will to continue this :)
