IV

Just straight up Patton's POV

I was walking into Roman's room at 7pm. I knew that Roman doesn't stay out so late, but when I got there, he wasn't there.

[small time skip]

I came back at around 1am, witch is curfew for us, but he was still gone so I had no choice but to go to sleep before I get in trouble.

[bigger Time skip]

I got up at 5:30am just in time to see Roman leave the castle. I remembered how he didn't get back until very late yesterday so I was curious and decided to follow him into the forest. I knew he had good hearing so I kept my distance.
After a while of walking we, reached a beautiful tree. It was huge. Then this boy showed up. OMG THAT WAS VIRGIL! I've known Virgil since we were very little. I just couldn't contain myself so I ran out and yelled,
   "YOU GUYS KNOW EACH OTHER?!"

Virgil's POV

   I saw Roman arrive so I got out from behind the tree. Then out of nowhere, Patton!?
   "YOU GUYS KNOW EACH OTHER?!"
"Patton, w-what?!"
I was so confused. How did he get here?
"W-here did you c-come from"
"I followed Roman!"
Roman spoke,
"And what made you come today? Ive been going on walks in the forest alone since I was 5"
It was strange because I've been doing the same thing and I never noticed him until a couple days ago.
"Well you see, you've never stayed outside past curfew since you were 5. I was worried last night when I couldn't say goodnight to you, so what ever else was I supposed to do?"
"How about asking me where I've been?"
"..............thATS SO SMART WOW I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT!"
Roman sighed and massaged his templates. He looked at his watch.
"Patton, you should get back. It's almost time for your morning duty's."
Patton then also looked at his, crappier watch and said,
"Oh! I should! Alright, I'll see you two love birds tomorrow!"
"LOVE BIRDS!?!"
We both screamed in unison.
No no no no no no no no no. No way. No. That's ridiculous. No. Nah. No. NO! No.
"Where in the entire earth and all of the millions of other universes did you get the idea that we are love birds!?"
Patton just giggled evilly,
"Nowhere~"
And pretended to be all innocent. It's like he knew something that we didn't.
He walked off, leaving both of us flustered. Roman was lightly blushing while I could feel my entire face and neck heat up.
"The last part was very unlike Patton"
"Y-yea, it's like he knew something.. something.. c-concerning.."
"It's probably nothing.. hopefully.... it's Patton, I'm sure it's nothing concerning"
He cleared his throat, then looked at the tree and smiled before saying,
"Race?"
I accepted by nodding and raced up the tree with no hesitation. I got up on the top branch like I did last time and sat down. Then Roman, being literally right behind me the entire time, sat down next to me. I was really tired, not from running up the tree, but I'm nocturnal so I was exhausted. I yawned. The yawn lasted almost 6 minutes straight and Roman looked worried about that.
"That's by far the longest yawn I have ever seen. Are you ok?"
I was drowsy and said half asleep,
"Uh yea~ I'm just.. really-"
Then I felt myself black out.

Roman POV

"Uh yea~ I'm just.. really-"
Then he went limp. I knew that he had fallen asleep, but how could someone just pass out like that, like just out of exhaustion. I had to make sure that he didn't fall off. I somehow managed to get him down the tree safely. I didn't know where to take him so I just put him inside of the very large hollowed out tree and sat beside him. He, In his sleep, curled into a ball on my lap. He looked so peaceful and adorable when he slept. Wait, no that's creepy.
He suddenly became really tense. His breathing quickened, His eye lids were shut tight. Then he burst up and started hyperventilating. He was having a panic attack.
"Hey hey hey, Virgil, calm down, look at me"
I hugged him in an attempt to calm him. He immediately hugged back and cried Into my shoulder.
"Shhh it's ok"
After a while he let go. Then he blushed at the realization that he cried into my shoulder. I sat down next to him again.
"Nightmare?"
"Uhh y-yea"
He seemed like this was normal for him. Like this happens every night.. well day.
"Does this happen often?"
"......maybe"
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No.."
"That's fine"
Virgil looked just as exhausted as he did earlier. Then he pasted out again and into my lap. I played with his hair when I felt something fluffy. I forgot he was a cat. I started to examine his ears and they were so, FLUFFY! I almost squealed. I was smiling from ear to ear. And the best part is, He seemed to lean into the touch. This was adorable.
After a while of this, it was nighttime.(it was a lot more than a while.) He woke up and yawned. He got off my lap. It seemed he forget I was there. Then he realized. I couldn't see if he blushed or not because it was dark, but he definitely was embarrassed.
"You wanna do something? I mean it's dark, it's your time"
He thought for a while and said,
"Can we hunt..? I mean it's probably a little weird for you but.."
"It's not weird. Let me let you in on something. My father is trying to kill me, but he doesn't know it.."
Virgil thought for a little.
"Wait... wait..! Wait, your a..?!"
"Yup"
"A-and your father h-has-hasn't n-noticed yet, or anything?!"
"Nope. He's over looked over 6 of us so far"
"Wait, so what species are you?"
"You'll find out tomorrow night when I chase you!"
I smirked as a way to challenge him.
"N-no, Don't-Don't do that. Either way, how am I supposed to know it's you. I-I mean, this is a forest"
"Oh you'll know it's me. There's no mistake about it."

And so they spent the next 2 hours with each other until Roman went to sleep so that he could get up tomorrow.
