Kain

Not long after Kain had sat down, a loud knock sounded at the door. Kain looked at Aida to see that she was still sleeping, and went to answer the door; it was probably the messenger again demanding why they hadn't seen the king yet. He opened the door and saw that it was instead Sanjay, who seemed annoyed yet concerned at the same time.

"Where's Aida? The King demands to see her! And why are you in here?" Sanjay demanded in a wheedling voice and stared at Kain's bare chest suspiciously.  Kain didn't say anything, but instead let the dwelve inside to see his friend. Sanjay padded heavily into the room and went to Aida's beside. "Aida! What happened?" His brow wrinkled in disbelief.

"She fainted." Kain answered, gathering his tainted shirt in one hand off the floor.

The dwelve peered at him and snorted. "I think I can guess why. Go put on a shirt Sir Kain." Kain shrugged and glimpsed at Aida once more before heading towards the door. Her face was a mask of complete relaxation, but it would not last for long.

"Watch over her. I will go speak with the King and tell him of the situation." Kain said and closed the door softly.

Kain went to his bedroom at the tower and quickly pulled on another shirt. He tied his long hair back and splashed a light dusting of rose water to ward off the putrid vomit smell. Then, he headed towards the throne room where the guards immediately lowered their freshly sharpened and allowed him to pass. The throne room was very large and elaborate, with gold and silver columns embellished with blue sapphires and green emeralds the sixe of a child's fist, and light gold tiles that reflected the painting that delineated the War of Independence. A long red carpet was rolled out to the foot of the thrones, handmade by the silk country of Rhuza as a peace offering.

Only the King was there when Kain came in, the Queen most likely went to try on new ball gowns. The King sat forward in his throne in his royal garb and seemed anxious about something. His bejeweled crown sat crookedly on his head, which was unlike his fastidious persona. Kain kneeled down and lowered his head.

"My King."

"Where is that girl?"

"Aida is sleeping."

The King furrowed his brow. "What happened to her?"

Kain stood up and rolled up a sleeve to show him the relic on his forearm. It pulsated since it had only been moments ago when Kain took in the energy "Her powers are awakening. She experienced a seizure from the burst of sudden dark energy and I have absorbed it." The King smiled widely at this.

"That is joyous news!" The King laughed and clasped his hands, the anxious expression disappearing. "I have nothing to worry about then."

Kain narrowed his eyes. "Worry about what my King?"

The King fingered a ring on his right hand. "Apparently our siege at Wisteria 17 years ago did not annihilate them completely. They have rebounded and one of our spies reported that they have acquired the help of their sister country, Wilhelmia."

Wilhelmia was a large country that supplied dangerous and unique weaponry ranging from dual gun-blades to demon infused gauntlets (which was extremely rare to find). Their men were known for their brutality and often won in the gladiator bloodbaths, drinking the blood of their opponents to increase their rage. On the other hand, their sister country Wisteria was pleasant, with a wealth of precious metals and gems that any man would massacre to get his hands on. King Lucien had ordered Kain to lead an army of 300,000 soldiers to destroy Wisteria because the country was also known for very powerful mages, especially the king and queen, whose magic was supposedly so powerful that they could destroy countries. King Lucien had wanted to bring his country to power, so he had Wisteria destroyed.

When they invaded Wisteria, the country was unprepared, so it was remarkably easy for Kain to slay the brave knights guarding the throne room and walk in. King was very powerful, but so was Kain, and after a long battle, Kain had caught the King off guard and slit his stomach, spilling blood onto the tile floor. The Queen might have been powerful too, but Kain did not see it, for she was guarding her precious child against her and was awaiting the blow, seeing that she wanted to die with her husband. Since then, Wisteria had been a wasteland.

Kain understood why the King would be so quickly relieved: Aida would surely kill them all. What the King did not understand however, was how much damage there would be. He rolled down his sleeve and lowered his arms down to his legs, clenching his fists.

"But we have nothing to worry about now," the King smiled, "because the prophecy is coming true."
